(Based in 1930) Dorian pov'

I've been toss around in this painting for years. I'm not sure how long it has been.

I've seen the people of London dressed in different clothing over the years...

Woman's dresses are much shorter

Men don't wear trench coats at much

The world has changed...

Today my painting gets auctioned off

I wonder who will buy me....

Violet's POV

"Papa I don't want to go to the auction!" I say as I sit on the train

"Violet...my dear...we have talked about this!" My father says annoyed

"We are just going to look at old things, that are worth nothing!" I huff

"You are the child. I'm the adult, what I say goes. Now hush it" my father tries to remain calm

I stare at the window and eventually fall asleep

~hours later~

"Miss Violet?" *shakes* "wake up Miss" Edwin tries shaking me awake

I wake up quickly "oh...yes Edwin?" I yawn and look around to see my father has left

"Miss we have arrived in London" he says nicely

I hop up and Edwin walks me out of the train carrying my things

I look around for a clock and it reads 6:45...I'm guessing in the morning since the station smells like coffee and there's a boy handing out news papers

Edwin talks to one of the train station workers, who asks me to follow him

He takes me and Edwin to the man waiting for us

"Miss Violet! What a beauty, you've become!" I turn to see Lord Harold Van-Buren

I smile and run to him, going for a hug

"My Harold! You don't look much older than my father!" I giggle as we hug

He pulls away kissing my hands

"Wow! You look like your mother!" He smiles softly at me... "speaking of your mother...I'm sorry for her passing" I nod and smile

"Thank you Harold, mother would of loved to see you...unfortunately the pox took her too soon.." I smile remembering her

"Yes well that amazing woman is at peace...perhaps we should get to the car. Your father left already. Richard always is in a hurry"  he says

I nod and walk to the car  with him

He yells to the driver "the auction house!" The driver nods

I jolt as the car moves and Harold grabs me

"He can't drive through the streets" Harold whispers to me.

I nod and giggle "seems you can't either  Harold...I mean you are paying him to drive you" Harold laughs and watches out the car window

I stare at the London streets...all the people...the buildings. It's beautiful.

I think of home...Sterling,Scotland....my father is from there..but he moved to London where he meet a French/Italian girl named Marie Ana. They spent countless years together long before they had me...miscarriages happened many times...I had a older brother but he died when I was 5 years old. He was 16. About to be married...but a terrible gun accident happened.  Then Mama...she died from small pox...a year ago...on my birthday December 8th...she promised she'd make it till Christmas but never did...father doesn't talk about her. It's forbidden... I miss her

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I realized. We arrived at the auction house.

"Now Violet...they will announce us. Okay? Don't be nervous. Just smile." He says smiling brightly then stepping out of the car.

We walk up the big steps into a large building. I take a deep breath and they open the door

Harold whispers to some one and they start to announce us

"Lady Duchesses Violet Taylor and  Lord Harold Van-Buren have arrived"

I stare out at the people as Harold takes my arm and we walk down the steps

Everyone is watching us. I look around for my father

"Your father is Talking to Lord Charles Golden". I nod...

"He's an American and your father might match you with him" he says happily

"Actually my father is letting me choose who I marry." I say proudly

"Amazing! Well we should go look at the auction sells" he says dragging me to another room

~20 minutes~

We've been looking at useless things forever now

I look over and notice a painting

It's of a young man, he looks gorgeous.

I stare at it. Admire it.

Until I feel a hand on my shoulder

I jump to see Harold.

He takes me to my seat

Now the auction begins
