Claire tapped the pen against her desk, pondering what to write. Darin's letter haunted her still. Was he telling the truth? She couldn't be sure. She didn't trust him one bit, but if her family was in danger, Claire had to act now. Putting the pen to paper, she began to write.
Dear Darin,
I don't know what game you're trying to play but I will not stand for it. I don't want my family getting hurt, so I will trust you just this once. I'll call you to set up a time and place to meet. Do not contact me until I contact you. I'll write again soon.
-Claire
She put the pen down with a shaky sigh. What was she thinking? Claire put her head in her hands and closed her eyes. This had to be done one way or another. The question was, should she tell Tyler about this meeting or go alone? She got up from her desk and made her way downstairs. She found Tyler in the living room watching t.v. Tyler had been stressed from work lately and Claire didn't want to add to that, but this was something that Tyler needed to know about. Especially if this plan took a turn for the worse. With a shaky breathe, she walked over to the couch and sat next to Tyler.
"Baby, I need to talk to you about something important. It's not something to be happy about but you need to know."
Tyler turned off the t.v. and set the remote on the coffee table. He turned to her and grabbed her hand gently when he saw the pained epression on her face.
"What is it, Claire? You know you can talk to me about anything and everything. What's going on?"
Claire suqeezed his hand as he made small circles with his thumb. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"I got another letter from Darin."
Claire felt Tyler tense up as he gripped her hand harder. She gasped in pain and he let go immediately.
"I'm sorry, sweetie, that just caught me off guard." He grabbed her hand again and kissed.
"I know, Tyler, and I'm sorry. He wanted to warn me about his mom."
"Isn't she--?"
"Dead? Yes. He told me that she's haunting him and that we may be in danger."
Tyler blinked in disbelief, not saying another word.
"I know it sounds crazy, but I'm going to set up a meeting with him. Talking to him in person would be simpler. I'd like for you to go with me."
