Rain

My head pounded as I woke up. For a second my eyes wouldn't open. It's like they were glued shut. When they finally opened the first thought that filled my head was that I was surrounded by darkness. The second thought was that I had absolutely no idea where I was.

As my head begin to clear, slightly, I look around tilting my head this way and that. Not moving my body as I began to feel the ache of it spread across my entire being.

I began to look around. I saw tall stones as I looked. They surrounded me. As my brain began to clear further I realized what I was looking at. Gravestones. I was sitting in a Graveyeard. It consisted of stony graves that were glowing eerily in the moonlit darkness. The glow seemed to be coming from inside the gravers themselves as there was no light other than the slight glow of the moon.

Testing my fingers first I curled them in and out resting their strength. As they seemed to work just fine I began to move my toes and eventually my whole body. It aches but the intensity lessened as I began to move around more.

I began to slowly raise myself from the ground. As I rose a silly thought came to my mind. If someone was watching from afar it would seem as if a zombie was raising itself from the grave. I giggled just a bit in the face of that thought. I

I didn't think I recognized this cemetery. As i began to walk through it though details began to come back to me. I did know this cemetery. Stone Creek Cemetery. This cemetery is where my parents were buried. I can't believe I didn't recognize it at first.

As a kid it always terrified me, the thought of walking through a cemetery at night. But now that I'm doing it, it doesn't scare me at all. There is not a inkling of fright anywhere in my mind or body. This is strange because after my parents passed away I could barely stand to look at a cemetery much less be inside of one, especially the one they were buried in. Regardless, I throw this thought out of my mind and continue walking toward what I think might be the entrance or exit of the cemetery.

Once I get there it turns out it is the exit out of the cemetery... There's only one slight problem. The gate is locked. I wasn't aware that cemeteries even had open/close hours. I begin to panic just a little bit. I want to get out of this place. I take a deep breath and begin walking in another direction. I would say which direction that was but I am a bit directionally challenged. I have no idea what direction I am walking in. I just know that I am walking towards something new.
