chapter five
.
Roger had gone to sign the divorce papers with his wife on Tuesday, with Wednesday being the day the two would go to the court to get the case of divorce confirmed, and then approved.
To say Lillian was a tiny bit stressed for Roger's mental health was an understatement. He had been a nervous wreck leading up to the day, and now it was Wednesday. Lillian hadn't seen him since the Sunday in which the two talked in the car.
Not only that, but Lillian had another round of treatment, beginning on Thursday afternoon and ending on Friday morning. An overnight stay in a hospital, in which Lillian looks at with utter hatred.
Although these two major events occurring in the same week, Roger and Lilian would be seeing each other this afternoon, Roger staying at Lillian's house overnight as it was more convenient, as Roger has agreed to take her to treatment. Roger also had to pop down to the studio in the morning to grab his notebook, and had asked Lillian if it would be alright if they did that on the way to the hospital.
She agreed.
Only to sightly regret the decision as nerves came into play when Roger had told her the chance of her meeting one, if not all of the boys was highly likely.
Two hours pass since lunchtime break at Lillian's work and when a coworker approaches with a smirk plastered on her face before pointing towards the phone that rested on the counter, Lillian knew exactly what she meant and quickly abandoned her restocking of punnets of blueberries and picks up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi love, how are you?"
"Doesn't matter, Rog. How are you?"
Roger took a deep breath. "Look, not amazing but a massive weight of stress has been lifted off my shoulders. While it's upsetting, I can finally say I'm a free and single man."
"Oh Roger, I'm sorry love."
"Don't worry, I'll get through it. But can you come see me?"
"Was planning on it anyway. Where do you live, love?"
Roger says his address before being cut short by Lillian who screeches and tells him to stop so she can find a notepad and pen. After it being repeated by Roger the second time and said back to him correctly by Lillian, farewells are said before she places the phone back on the hook and groaning after she looks at her watch.
An hour and a half until she sees Roger.
.
Lillian thinks Roger's hearing has weakened ever sine he picked up a pair of drumsticks, all because she's been knocking for almost five minutes and Roger still hasn't come to the door, until he does.
Seven minutes after she begins knocking.
"Who is it?" He asks, raspy voice and all.
"Me, Rog." Lillian softly says in reply, the door being whipped open in a matter of seconds. Roger holds his arms out as their chests softly collide in a hug that lingers.
Roger pulls away and looks at the bag that hangs loosely off Lillian's wrist. "What's that?" He asks, pushing the front door shut behind him and they begin to walk the grand hallway, Roger grimacing at it's loud slam and echo around the house, making Lillian jolt.
