Tmnt does not belong to me in any way, shape or form. I just want to write about a couple characters i've made over the years. Enjoy

I won't lie, I was nervous. It was the first time in a Big City, the traffic was slow but I couldn't seem to mind it. It was absolutely breathtaking to see all of the bright lights in the night skyline of the city. Such a pretty sight was slowly lulling me to sleep in the back of the taxi. It was supposed to be my new guardian, Casey, that was supposed to pick me up from the airport.
He's technically my half-brother paternally. Same useless dad, but different mothers. Although he told me he was raised by his aunt during our online conversations. But he seemed to have been called into work for something at the NYPD. I didn't bother me too much that i had to take a taxi to his apartment. It seems too perfect that it worked out this way. I had got accepted for an exchange program in New York at Roosevelt High School. My mother went to the same school when she was an exchange student. Until Mom meet dad and I was born, which abruptly ended her program and returned to Italy.
I lucked out enough to already have an arranged host home and guardian that I knew and trusted. This would be the most amazing, life changing years of my life.
The taxi drivers voice broke me out of my stupor. We were here. He was asking me how I was going to pay for the fair with cash or card. I told him that my guardian would be paying for me and that he'd be out soon. I texted Casey to ask if he would make it here soon. It took a while for him to reply. He said he was <still at the station>. I sighed but responded with an <ok>. I would just pay for the taxi ride myself. I took the liberty of transferring some Euros into American money, just in case.
"My guardian seems to still be at his work, I will pay instead." I said in uncertain english hoping I said everything correctly, or else my after school english classes have failed me.
All I had was $30.00 American and about $20 in Euros which would be more than enough to pay the fair.
"Im sorry i only have 30 dollars but i can pay if you can take me to somewhere i can transfer my other money." I hope he can understand all I wanted to do right now was go into the apartment get comfy and sleep. I held my breath when he looked mad and sighed before reaching the keys and starting the the taxi again and said ok. "Thank you sir." As I leaned back into my seat.
We drove for about another 5 or so minutes before he parked and said " in that building you can go and get your money." I said "Thank you" before getting out of the taxi and walking to the sidewalk before I could reach the sidewalk I heard the engine of the taxi starting up again. Quickly looking back I saw back taillights glow up and signalling towards the flow of traffic. I ran fast towards the man's driving window and tried to get him to stop and I would be back with his fair money soon. Or if I could at least get my luggage back from the trunk of the the car.
When I realized that he was not listening or paying any me any attention, I decided to try get my luggage myself and take a picture on my phone of the license and of his face. In all honesty I didn't know what I'd do with them, but I made me feel better knowing that I had pictures of this. Maybe I'd make a postcard out of them and send them to mom saying, in fun bubble letters, 'I love NYC!' or maybe even 'I survived my first night in New York City!'. The driver did end up leaving me but not before I got the pictures. I ended up sending them to Casey to see if he could get my luggage back for me, since that man did technically steal it. And stealing is a crime.
I realized only then how low my phone's battery was. I definitely wouldn't have enough power to google my way back to the apartment. So that means that I would have ask around for directions. Heading in the opposite way that the driver went to try and I tried to make my way back home. It was harder than I thought. I must have asked a dozen different people for directions to the apartment. Every each person's instructions left me even more lost. And every one's directions seemed to oppose each other. 'It's up the block' then when I ask again 'It's down the block.' I just wanted to sleep right here on the street now.
