Its hard to make a conversation

When he's taking my breath away

***

I remember the first day I ever talked to you properly.

We'd been going to school together since grade 8 so we had obviously met before and to say i'd never noticed you would be a straight out lie.

I'd been borderline infatuated since the first day of high school, I saw you three rows in front, two chairs to the right sitting there with your horrid glasses to match that terrible fringe.

But of course I was twelve and the sight of you made my heart jump out of my chest exactly the same way it did every day for the next four years. (Especially after a haircut)

This day in particular was the same as any other, you came in with your group of friends being the loud and raucous teenagers you are.

I remember seeing you look my way, and trying to convince myself for the next four minutes that there was no way in hell you really had.

But evidently I was proven wrong, because exactly four minutes later I found myself sitting closer than I'd ever been to you, only the desk in between us as you spoke the most you'd ever said to me.

"Taylor, right? Like the singer?"

I barely forced myself to nod before the bell went and you moved to sit in your usual seat.

I remember counting the distance.

Three rows in front, two chairs to the right.

hi!

This is my new story, fueled by my excitement for 1989, I'm not sure how long it'll be but I'm thinking maybe a short story so yah.
