Sylvia woke up and ordered some breakfast to her room since it was a little too early to go to the dining hall. That and she didn't want to risk seeing the two sisters from yesterday. She knew they would see each other later but she wanted to postpone that moment as much as possible. When breakfast arrived, she woke up Miran and let his hunger do the rest. The two devoured their breakfast before heading out. They were heading to the academy earlier than they were supposed to so they could find his affinity. In this day and age, magic was defined by colours. From black to white everything was possible. If your affinity was red, you would use fire magic. If you affinity was dark-red, you could use fire and a little dark magic. Same goes for when you affinity is light-blue. You would use water or ice magic and a little white magic also called holy magic. Miran had learned all of this during his time in the military and decided that he wanted to be purple as it meant he could use lightning magic. Lightning magic users were very rare. Although they were common compared to pure light or dark magicians, those numbered in the rare one per century. Excluding affinity, mages can all use different amount of spells before reaching their limit. There is also a limit in the complexity and power of spells you can use. Same as with the quantity, if you push too hard you will lose consciousness like the elf Miran fought.

The two walked in silence until they reached the academy. It consisted of an arena, a classroom and an armoury. All of that carved in a tree. The two walked through the front door and entered the classroom where a slim yet tall elf waited for them. The man had blonde hair and green eyes. On what seemed to a desk next to him was there was a blue crystal and a name tag written "Krindle" on it.

"There you two are! I was beginning to wonder if you would ever arrive."
"You know me professor Krindle. If I say that I'm doing something, I will do it."
"Of course I know you but I don't know anything about the person you brought except that he looks like a human... if we forget the eyes, shoulders and jaw that is. It's subtle but there are some elven characteristics on him. Who did you bring me Sylvia?"
"I brought you a demi-elf that has been living with humans for a while. He even joined their military where he learnt how to fight. He freed me when I was captured. His name is Miran."
"So he's the one you were talking about... I was not aware that he was a half-elf."
"Me neither, I learnt about it yesterday."

While the two elves were discussing this, Miran stood still and looked around. He was in awe of the room around him. The room was filled by the teacher's desk and by seats that surrounded tables that were spread apart. Every piece of furniture had been carved into the massive tree while the lights consisted of moss that shone brightly. In all his years, Miran had never seen such a beautiful sight. Then, his focused switched to the crystal that laid on the desk. Curious about it's purpose, he walked towards it and put out his hand.

"I would wait a little before touching that Miran!" Exclaimed the teacher.
"What is it?"
"What is it, sir?! If you pass this little test, you will be joining us as a student and I will be your teacher. I expect you to act the part and be respectful. Now, let's try that again."
"What is the purpose of the crystal laying on your desk sir?" He said flatly.
"This is an affinity tester. By pressing your palm on it, it will show you what your element is. Now, go put your palm on it."

Miran followed the teachers orders and put his hand on it. A couple of seconds later, the crystal turned as dark as a starless night and crumbled away. Worried about that result, he turned to the two others in the room. To his dismay, they looked as shocked and as scared as he did. Only after a few moments did the teacher regain his composure. With a wave of his hand, pieces of black crystal floated up to his desk.
