Somewhere along the way,
My eyes forgot how to smile.
After all they've seen
Who could blame them?
So my mouth smiles twice as much,
Laughs twice as loudly,
Trying to perform a two man act.
Somewhere along the way,
The weight of the air
Became too much for me to handle.
So my knees started to shake
And my lungs started to scream
In silent protest at the prospect
Of living.
Somewhere along the way,
The sound of my alarm in the morning
Became my worst fear.
And I started to live in yesterday
Rather than today,
Because I'm more alive in my memories,
Than I am in reality.
