Heartless Chapter One -

People had always told me I was beautiful, even though I knew I wasn't. Maybe, they called me that because of my dark curly hair that stopped at my shoulders, or because of my bubble gum pink lips, or because I was a perfect blend of black and white. I honestly don't know. My height is usually responsible for some of the attention I get. I'm 80% taller than most female's my age.

So yeah, I'm really tall, but I think of it as a advantage instead of a weakness.

My stilettos clacked loudly against the floor, causing heads to turn my way. They whispered about me, they pointed at me, some of them even laughed, but I kept walking like I didn't have a care in the world. My sister shifted uncomfortably under the gaze of the many students who stopped to look at us in the corridors.

"Ignore them," I mumbled to her. "We're not here for their entertainment. Our main goal right now is to find Axel Knight, got it?"

She nodded.

This whole thing might be more complicated then I had thought it out to be. Before I can take my plan any further I have to find Axel. He'll lead me to his father. Maybe, I could even have the pleasure of torturing information out of him. That's the ultimate goal.

"Hiya, my name is Lily Johnson," A girl with fiery red hair greeted us cheerfully with a big fake smile on her face, causing us to stop in our tracks. I mentally rolled my eyes. I was hoping I didn't run into anybody. "I'm the student body president. You're both new here right? I can give you a full tour of the school if you want."

I scoffed, loudly.

"No, we don't need your help," I snapped at her. What? She's annoying me.

My sister purposely bumped into Lily before walking pass her. She looked at my sister with a puzzled expression while rubbing her shoulder. I smirked and gave her my best death glare, causing her to purse her lips at me.

After we passed Lily I turned to my sister.

"You'll be good, right?" I asked while placing both my hands on her shoulders. She nodded. "If you get lost ask another student for directions. This school seems nice. After I find Axel knight I'll think about letting you stay here, if you want."

She shook her head, rapidly, while taking her notepad out of her purse. She scribbled something down and then showed it to me.

"I don't want to go to school. I want to help you out around the house. We're only here for Axel, nothing else."

I looked down at the black ink and shook my head in disapproval.

"Like. I. Said. Before. After I find Axel Knight I'll think about letting you stay here. Your education is still important to me, and I have everything under control. You don't need to help me."

She sighed and nodded hesitantly. I kissed the top of her head.

"Go find your classes," I demanded.

She nodded and took off in the other direction. I noticed the heated stares the boys gave her as she passed by them, but I shrugged it off. If they try to pull something on her she'll put them in their place, no doubt. I glanced down at the schedule in my hand. Look's like I have Algebra first. Great! Please note the sarcasm.

"I'm Rose Carter," I said stepping into the classroom filled with students. Everybody's attention was on me instantly. The boys sat up straight in their desk looking at me with pure interest, while most of the girls looked at me with jealousy and disgust. Why are they looking at me like that? I'm nothing special, and I don't understand why they're giving me the disgusted looks. It's not like I'm dressed like a slut or anything.

I'm about ten minutes late. This school is very confusing. I walked into the wrong class about three times, but I finally found the right one. I hope Sadie finds her class alright. She's pretty smart for a fifteen year old girl, so I doubt that she had any complications.

The teacher, a middle aged man, looked at me with a bored expression.

"Miss Carter you're late," he barked. "I don't tolerate tardiness, but since you're new here I'll let you off easy. Just don't be late again or I'll have no other choice than to give you detention. This is just a warning, for now."

Everyone in the class laughed in sync. What's so freaking funny? I looked around the large classroom. My eyes landed on a boy that sat there silently, tapping his pencil against his desk, his eyes on the middle aged teacher. He was the only one that didn't look at all amused by the situation. Something about him instantly drew me in. I don't know if it was his light brown eyes, his black leather jacket, or his handsome face, but something about him screamed trouble. I love trouble.

Suddenly, he snapped his gaze to meet mine. His expression blank. Neither one of us blinked, almost as if we were challenging the other to not look away.

The teacher's annoying voice brought me back into reality.

"Miss Carter please take a seat," said Mr. Michaels in a bored tone. I tore my eyes away from the boy and looked at the man I was now hating.

Right, I haven't sat down yet.

My eyes quickly roamed around the room for a seat, until I found the perfect one. Right next to the boy with brown eyes.
