Chapter 7: Disappearance

Dear Diary,
I wonder if Lily loves me as much as I love her... Am I taking things too fast maybe? She seems to be happy though... I don't know. I hope she's okay with everything. I should probably talk to her...

Evelyn shuffled onto her side as the grass gently tickled her cheek. She gently reached over to touch Lily.

"Lily..?" She muttered, still half asleep.

She opened an eye and realised Lily was no longer by the side of her. She shot up and quickly became wide awake. Where the hell had she gone? Surely she would have told her if she was gone, wouldn't she??

"Lily?!" Evelyn called out as she stood up, looking around shakily. She could feel tears forming in the corner of her eyes as she scrambled towards the park gates. She began screaming out her name and people were beginning to catch attention. Tears began streaming down her cheeks as she ran home frantically.

She slammed the keys in the door and pushed it open.

"Lily!!!", She screamed, "Lily?!"

Her voice was now shaking, breaking. She ran upstairs and put her phone on charge.

"Come on, come on... I don't have fucking time for this!" She cried, slamming her phone down on the cabinet. Her breathing was getting unsteady and a tensed feeling filled her chest.

Her phone finally turned on and she struggled to type her password in. She clicked onto Lily's number and held the phone close to her ear.

"Please, please pick up..." She sobbed. Tears were falling down onto her jeans as she closed her eyes.

"The person you are trying to call is unavailable, please leave a message after the tone. Beep"

"H-Hey baby, are you okay? I really need you to call me I'm worried like hell, please be safe wherever you are and I love you... Don't forget that"

She tried to hold herself together as she pressed the "End Call" button. She ran downstairs and got into her car. She called Jenna three times until she finally picked up.

"Have you seen Lily?!" She exclaimed, pulling out of the driveway.

"No, why? Are you okay?"

"I need to find her, we were laying in the park and we fell asleep last night and then I woke up this morning as she was gone!!" Her voice was breaking even more and she laid her head on the steering wheel.

"I'm scared Jenna..." She muttered as tears streamed down onto the wheel.

"Check her house, check anywhere you think she'd be and then call the police if you can't find her. I'll meet you at her house in 5"

Evelyn let out a small "okay" and put the phone down. She drove faster and faster until she realised what speed she was going at. She slowed down so she wouldn't get pulled over.

She pulled up on the curb of Lily's road and ran out of the car. She knocked the door too many times for anyone to miss and stood waiting for a response.

"Lily?!" She yelled through the door, trying to get someone to answer. She needed answers.

Evelyn slid down the door and broke into tears, yet again.

"Evelyn?" Jenna called from round the corner. She didn't even raise her head.

Jenna ran up to her and hugged her.

"Where could she be... Where could she have gone..." She cried.

Jenna rubbed her back, trying to comfort her the best she could.
