Nikki doesn't like dogs. Well, it's not so much that she hates dog's in general, it's more that she doesn't like keeping dogs. More specifically, harmless dogs. Nikki had always wanted a dog, but when her mother finally got her one, she bought Nikki a little, white, fluffy, miniature toy poodle. Nikki obviously didn't want it, and since her mother had always wanted a girly girl, she took this opportunity to dress up, paint the nails, and dye the hair on, this dog.
