who knew the strange boy under the peach tree would have so much more to him than meets the eye
┖┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┚minsun had been visiting her mother's house during summer every year since the divorce, yet she had never noticed an orange haired boy in the house across the street from hers.
this year was extremely different, as her grandmother had died 8 months prior. the old woman had been living with her daughter; after the divorce misun's mom moved far away to a beautiful field, her mother going with her.
it wasn't hard on minsun per say, her and her grandmother were never close.
the boy was peculiar, and from what she had observed, was a bit younger than her. she asked herself why he was leaving his house so early in the morning, a basket in his hand.
brushing off her curiosity, minsun turned away from the boy and continued to carry her bags into the house.
minsun was having her morning porridge by the dining room window when she noticed the boy coming out of his house. he had the same basket in his hand, and even carried a wrapped up sandwhich in the other.
she watched as the boy walked down the sidewalk, disappearing into the beautiful sunrise. what a strange boy.
on the third day, there was a knock on the front door, to which minsun opened. "hello."
it was the strange boy from across the street. he looked older up close. his orange hair rested on his forehead delicately and the boy had an umbrella over him seeing as it was raining.
"mother, a little boy is here." minsun said, not addressing the boy. he frowned at her calling him little despite him towering over her.
"minsun, don't be rude! jisung, sweetie, it's good to see you. what brings you here?" her mother came rushing to the door, seemingly excited that the boy was stopping by.
"hi ms. kang," the boy bowed, "your mail got mixed up with ours and my aunt wanted me to bring it right over."
minsun stood behind her mother, noticing how sweet she was with the boy. "thankyou very much! would you like to stay for dinner?"
"no thank you. i'm going to eat under the peach tree today, thankyou for the invitation though." the boy said, a kind smile on his face.
"ah i see, well thank you for stopping by jisung." the woman said before closing the door.
"who is he?" minsun asked, as soon as her mother closed the door.
"honey that's the boy who lives across the street. his name is jisung, i believe he is only a month younger than you. you should try to get to know him minsun!"
the girl stared blankly at her mother before turning on her heel to leave. her mother was always trying to get her to make friends in the neighborhood.
"no thanks."
"he's a sweet boy, really he is minsun."
minsun watched from her window as jisung left everyday, at the same time in the morning, a basket in one hand, a sandwich in the other.
