I yawn feeling tears well up in my eyes from the sleep deprivation, god I stayed up too late studying for a math test that I might just fall asleep trying instead. I think, I try to rub the sleep from my eyes but it only draws yet another yawn, "I'm so going to fail this thing" I mumbled to myself as I slowly drag my feet down the hall. I'm preparing myself for a sneeze, yawn, combo when I hear someone scream like a lunatic behind me. " Chris! Hey, Chris wait up man." Yep thats my name Chris Evans, pretty bland name, kind of matches my pretty bland life. I have a mom, dad, older brother in the army, and a younger sister that's still in elementary school. And my parents thought that the sound of going to an even blander, more suburban neighborhood, in the middle of nothing to nowhere, would be a great idea. Forgetting that their middle child is going into senior year of high school and will be destroyed by every standard of every teen movie drama I've ever seen. But that didn't matter when my little sister won a scholarship to the middle school in this district, only out of pure chance that the teacher liked her better than the rest of the students.

I stop and wait as the lunatic looks as he weaves his way through the crowd, I roll my eyes as he exaggerates an injury when he stops in front of me. When he's finally stopped I say, " Really... you only jogged five feet." He laughs and answers, " You don't know what the hell I what might have been happening before this, I could have been chased by some crazy bitch all the way here!" He says, we both laugh " Yeah sure, the only crazy one here is you trying to run through a crowd like this." He shoves my shoulder lightly laughing sarcastically, "Hardy har har, nice one." He says, " You'll be fine you over exaggerating cunt." We both break out in a fit of laughter as we see the faces of horror that pass by us. " God, your a dick." He says, " You only say that cause you don't have one Matt!" He punches me hard as I crack up. Matt Hall is the only friends that I've made all year, which at my old school I wouldn't have ever been friends with a kid like him, but I guess things change.

He glares at me the way a child would glare at their parents for not getting them the toy they wanted at the store. I was half expecting him to cross his arms, stomping his feet, and throw a little tantrum, listing all the reasons why he should have the toy. This only makes me laugh harder, as I watch his face get redder with half anger and half him trying not to laugh himself. It doesn't last long though, soon after it started he shrugs his shoulders in surrender, and smiles. " That just confirms that you're a shithead" We stared at each other for a second longer before we start balling our eyes out in laughter... again. Sooner or later the people walking by us are giving us funny looks and smiling like we're two toddlers fighting. A person I vaguely recognized from one of my classes passes by us and starts to laugh along, not even trying to hold it back like the other students.

Matt is a little shorter than me in height and has shaggy blonde hair and blue eyes. But the most interesting thing about him is that he was gifted with a laugh. No not a regular laugh but the kind that just makes you want to laugh as well, or as I say his laugh is contagious. Some people forget what kind of power a laugh like that has over you. No matter the mood, if someone makes you laugh it brightens your day a little more. " Okay, okay." I say as I ruffle his hair hoping it will stop him from laughing as well. " We should probably get to class. " I say " Yeah, we better hurry or else Mrs. Green will be riding our asses when we get there." I smack the back of his head just as he gets his last sentence out and take off down the hall trying to avoid people as best as possible.

I'm almost to the classroom, and I can feel Matt getting closer, I turned around to look at him for a split second when I crash into someone. " Ow!" I fly backwards and sprawl out on the floor with my books and homework covering the entire hallway width. I look around to see who I hit, and what kind of damage I'd done, I turn and look to my right a see some random girl that I swear I've seen somewhere but can't seem to place when. She has auburn hair that waves down to her waist, and hazel eyes that you just can't look away from.

" I'm so, so, so, so, sorry I didn't see you! " she says before I start speaking, " No, I was running through the hall, this was my fault." I start gathering my stuff, "Here let me help you." she starts to grab papers left and right trying not to let them be stepped on, once everything is put away I get up and see Matt at the side of the hall with his head cocked to the side, almost like he's studying what I'm doing. I roll my eyes and offer my hand to the girl and help her up, " I didn't catch your name." She looks at me and is about to say something when the bell rings and her eyes go wide. " I'm sorry I've got to go, I'm late." She says and rushes away before I can say anything. My hand is still held out when Matt comes up behind me and patts my shoulders, " Did that just happen?" I ask confused about the previous interaction, " Yeah, man, yes it did."
