Antonio and Gilbert were waiting outside for Monika to get the car and bring it around. Francis was waiting with them, even though he wasn't going with them. The duo had actually pulled him aside again, and they were determined to get a reason out of their friend.
Thankfully, he was a little more willing to talk about it after talking with Bella yesterday.
"That's so weird. She didn't even leave a mark?" Francis questioned. He knew about Chiara, he had encountered her once during a job himself and it had not ended too well for him. He had to recover for a month before he could do another job, and he had considered himself lucky escaping from that with the damage he had. But learning that Antonio had gotten off with no damage made him curious. "Well, she did leave one. But I think it's gone. She poked my neck with a knife." The mark had disappeared, so small of a poke that they couldn't see the scar.
"Wonder if she likes you?" Antonio shook his head. "She doesn't. She made it clear it was an assassination job and that I was lucky to escape alive. But I don't know why."
The words rang clear in his head, "May we never meet again." There's no possible way she could like him with a threat like that! "I don't know. There's gotta be some explanation for her actions. For a well known assassin, there has to be a good reason to not kill you."
"You were driving, right?" Gilbert asked suddenly. "Yea, and then she led me back to headquarters and left." "Maybe that's why. She didn't want you to wreck the car since you'd be dead, and then in headquarters she couldn't because she'd be spotted." He shrugged, content with his logic. But the other two weren't so sure. "She could have just led me somewhere else. I don't know, maybe it's not even worth thinking about. I don't think I'll see her again."
"Don't be so sure. You know this job is a very well paying one. I think she's going to be after him too. Either way, best of luck, mes amies."
Francis gave Antonio a pat on the shoulder and walked back inside. "Whatever. We will have fun on this mission and not worry about her anyway." Gilbert swing an arm over his friend's shoulder, trying to put him in a better mood.
By then, Monika was pulling around to the parking lot. The two were getting ready to get in, when a new car drove into the parking lot. They watched the car for a moment, pausing long enough to see that Lux had stepped out of the office and was walking to meet the car. He gave some money to the driver, and opened the door to the backseat.
A girl stepped out, wearing a large hat and sunglasses. She had on a red tank top with a small black skirt, and had a small carry on suitcase. Lux walked her over to the car, in which Antonio suddenly tensed up. Gilbert looked confused until he realized what was happening.
Chiara Vargas was standing in front of them, Lux explaining her alias and job. She removed her sunglasses, and those greenish hazel eyes pierced into Antonio. Gilbert immediately took a step forward. "What's she doing here?" "That's a little rude. You ought to watch your tongue or you'll regret it." "Like hell I wi-" in what looked like she only took a step forward, she had taken three, meeting Gilbert chest to chest and holding a knife to the side of his neck. She grabbed one of his wrists with her other hand, holding it in place.
"Chiara, please. You'll have to work with them on this job." Lux was trying to calm her down, and now Bella had stepped out of office too and ran over. "Chiara! How are you? It's been a while!" She grabbed Chiara's hands, mindful of the knife, and pulled her aside from Gilbert. All three boys stood with their mouths agape at Bella's sudden risky move. But Chiara had no intentions of attacking Bella as far as they could see. In fact, she was holding a decent conversation with her about a multitude of subjects. Monika opened the driver's door, suddenly, stepping out for a moment. "Everyone is here now, then?" Chiara turned to face the new girl, and Bella took her opportunity to walk back in with Lux in tow, shouting "Good luck, guys!".
"Yes. Monika, I take it?" Chiara held a hand out, knife suddenly out of sight. But certainly not out of mind for the duo, who realized they will be in the backseat with her. "Chiara. Nice to meet you. I'm going to apologize in advance for the idiots you'll have to be working with. Speaking of," After shaking the other woman's hand, she turned to the duo. "We need to get a move on if Alfred is going to make it to the hotel before I shove him out and make him walk."
"Hey! I can hear you, you know!" They heard a loud yell from the passenger seat. "Then shut the fuck up and take a nap or something!" Chiara yelled back, so suddenly that it was the German siblings' turn to jump in surprise. Antonio had a small grin on his face despite his nervousness about the Italian.
All he could say was, this was going to be an interesting job.
