Sitting at the back of my Math class, I rolled my eyes at my teacher. Mr Daniels was droning on about simultaneous fractions and how they were 'super important for everyday life'... as if.

I rolled her eyes again and sighed, leaning my head on my hand. There was no point in this. Maths was boring and I had better things to do than sit in a stuffy classroom for hours discussing topics that would never be needed again.

As my focus left the board, my eyes trailed around the room, spotting details very few others would. Miranda Scott was rocking at 90 degrees on her chair and would fall at 5 degrees more.

Andrew Haye had a small grass stain on his right sleeve from where he had tackled a random Year 7 after he'd probably commented on Andrew's football technique.

And Sophie White had chewed three pencils this lesson and was currently on her fourth. I shivered slightly, my mouth turning down into a frown. The thought of a lead taste in my mouth made me feel sick.

"What's wrong?" Penny turned to a tall girl beside her and chuckled slightly. This was her friend Samantha. Samantha had straight blonde hair that she always tied in the tightest ponytail. I never understood why she did that. It looked so painful.

"Sophie's chewing pencils again" Samantha gagged slightly.

"I can't believe she.." A loud crash from my right interrupted her. Samantha flinched and turned quickly to the scene. I followed slowly. I already knew what had happened so didn't really need to look. Miranda had gone the extra 5 degrees and was currently scrambling off the floor in embarrassment as students laughed around her. It was obvious that was going to be the result of her swinging on her chair. I just didn't understand how people couldn't see it.

"Oh my God, how embarrassing" Samantha laughed. I smiled too, trying to join in with the class as much as possible.

"Stop it!" Mr Daniels tried to calm the classroom down but to little prevail. He stomped up and down the aisle in the middle of the table in anger, whilst mayhem seemed to occur. People were shouting and laughing all around.

I was bored of this and just wanted to be somewhere else. My eyes flickered to Mr Davies left hand. He must be having marital problems again as the gold ring usually on his fourth finger was missing and a slight tan line was visible where it use to be. I guessed it was because he was having an affair with Miss Crowsy down the hall who had the same shade of lipstick on today that was smudged on Mr Davies left sleeve.

"Get back to work or you all have a detention after school". He crossed his arms in front of him, trying to gain authority. The noise suddenly faltered and then the whole classroom went quiet. I scoffed slightly. Typical- they always stopped when they might have to stay in school for longer.

Mr Daniels started to stroll back to his desk but stopped at mine, looking at the blank page in front of me.

"How come your brothers so smart yet you can't even write the bloody date. Penelope if you don't do any work you're not going to pass Maths" He walked off quickly, a small strut in his step as if he had accomplished some big task.

I looked to Samantha, my mouth agape in disgust. I wasn't smart like my older brother Henry but I knew what to do when given a real life issue. Academic education isn't everything. I was lucky. Being hyper observant meant I could manipulate most situations which, unlike her parents, I was rather proud of. Ieven got my grade moved up from an E to a C in my last Biology paper, saving myself from yet another lecture from my parents about "how they wish she could be more like her brother".

Samatha scoffed and shook her head.

The bell sounded and a scurry of students headed out of the door. Grabbing my backpack, I followed the rush of students towards my next class. I got to the PE changing room quickly and changed. PE was a partially love of mine as it was the only class I had ever been better than my brother.
