Five years...
Five years since Marcel tried to kill me.
Five years since I last saw him.
Five years ago I got pregnant with his child.
Everything happened so fast.
"Mommy! Wake up! It's Summer Time!" Svana was jumping on me, "you promised me that I could go into the woods today and you would show me my surprise!" Shit, I forgot. I told Svana that I would show her who we really we, her heritage, that she was really a werewolf.
I groaned/laughed and sat up, "okay, Baby. I'll get dressed, go make some cereal, and then we can go, okay?" I noticed that she already got herself dressed. She was wearing a white sun dress that reached her knees, she nodded and ran out of my room. Groaning, I got up and threw on a amethyst purple dress and washed my face to freshen up and wake myself up a little bit.
When I came downstairs, Svana was already sitting at the coffee table eating some cereal while watching The Backyardigans. I sat behind her with a brush and began doing her hair, she had light brown skin from me and Marcel. Her hair was nearly impossible with how curly it was, but I was able to comb it out and put it in two big puff balls on the top of her head.
I sat on the couch and grabbed a book from the book shelf I built under the couch for easy access. "When you finish, we'll go. Okay?" She nodded and averted her attention back to the TV; I was reading Insurgent, the second book to the Divergent Trilogy. I didn't know there was a trilogy until I connected with the Human society. I was still in good shape, I went to the gym and tried to keep running. When Svana went to school, I would go hunting and mark my territory when the time was right for Svana and I to live in the wild like I did.
"I'm done, Mommy!" Svana skipped back into the living room, I didn't even know she finished and went to the kitchen. I nodded and put my book away, we got our shoes on and I grabbed my keys before leaving the apartment and locking up. We grasped hands and avoided the judgemental women who were sitting in lawn chairs out from as we walked.
Svana and I walked to the city park and there was a little patch of trees. I put a finger to my lips and we entered, I stopped at a certain tree and pressed my hand to it, closing my eyes. When I felt the wind against my body, I picked up Svana, blindly and walked through the tree. Svana let out a small scream but we emerged in the wood, I set Svana down and she uncovered her eyes.
"Mommy? How did you do that?" She looked at the tree we exited through and I held out my hand, she grabbed it nervously and we walked a few feet away to a space between trees, dead leaves crunched beneath our feet. I turned to face her and let the transformation take control.
My eyes were closed and I heard Svana scream a little when I opened my eyes, lifting one leg, a second, a third, and then a fourth. I walked towards her and let her hand run over my fur. "Sweetheart, this is who we really are." I knew she could understand me, she also knew Xhosa. Every wold child is born knowing how, a new word is added to their Xhosa vocabulary when they learn a new English word.
"Think, Baby. Try your hardest, imagine yourself as a wolf. Try, think about it." She nodded and squeezed her eyes closed. We were like that for a few minutes before I saw her shift into a small, pale blue wolf. She bounded around and fell a couple of times before getting back up and giggling. She pranced around and I did too, we were like that until I heard a footstep.
I growled and stood in front of Svana, readying myself in a battle position. "Svana, get behind me right now and don't make a sound." Svana whimpered and scampered behind me, I growled and saw a in camo gear and a hunting rifle. Svana whimpered again and I growled lowly. The man seemed confused and I growled lower, baring my teeth and opening my mouth slightly.
He held up his gun and I went full attack mode. "Svana! Get behind a tree!" I barked, the man held the scope to his eye and I pounced. I lunged at him and a shot went off.
I squeezed my eyes shut and expected to feel pain but there was nothing. I was on top of the man, I could hear Svana's whimpers of fear, thank god she wasn't hurt.
I got off of him and he backed up, I growled again. He got up and ran away, I trotted over to Svana and checked on her. I shifted back to human form and placed my hand for her head, I felt her get heavier and she was crying, cuddling into my chest. "It's okay now, Baby. You can not tell anybody what you are unless I tell you that you can, okay? You will soon know who is a werewolf or a vampire or another fairy tale creature soon enough. Understand me?" She nodded and cried harder into my dress.
We rocked back and forth until a familiar smell hit my nose. It was wolf, for sure, but who was it? I stood up, holding Svana. Could it be who I thought it was? Certainly not.
I looked around and saw the silky blonde wolf and grey wolf running at me at top speed. I dropped to my knees and set Svana next to me, the two wolves lunged at me but instead of being connected with nails or teeth, I was met with arms around me. "Y/N!" Kelly squealed. Svana was looking at us confused and I pulled away from Kelly to hug Wildcat.
"We've been so worried about you! Vanoss didn't tell us where he placed you! What the-" her eyes landed on Svana and she hid behind me in fear.
"It's okay, honey. Meet Mommy's...family." Svana emerged and Kelly and Wildcat smiled at her, we were all sitting on our knees. Svana took an interest and hugged him first before going to Kelly.
"Hi, Svana, I'm Uncle Wildcat and this is Aunt Kelly." Was Wildcat being...soft? She sat next to me again and we began talking.
"Is Svana..." she gulped, "Marcel's?" I hesitated and nodded.
"What happened to him after...ya know..." I asked, the memories replayed in my head.
"He's been acting fine. He's been spending time with Simone and acts like everything is fine, but we all know he's hurting. We can't bring you up without him either snapping or walking away. We all know that he regrets what he did to you." Wildcat played with Svana and I nodded, wiping away the tears that were pooling in my eyes.
"What about the others? How is everyone?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Lanai and Terroriser just had a pup, he's the sweetest thing but he also is wild, just like his mother and father." Kelly smiled before continuing. "Nogla and Aliyah have two kid that are adopted but are just like Nogla. Loud and have no common sense. But, great kids." We all laughed after that.
"What about you two? How have you two been?"
Wildcat gulped and scratched the back of his head, "we're trying to adopt...the Elders told Kelly that she couldn't have pups, so we're trying our hardest." Wildcat squeezed Kelly's hand and she sniffed, Svana hugged her which made Kelly giggle and kiss the top of her head.
"But Y/N, the reason why we're here is...we need you back there." Kelly handed Svana back to Wildcat who was throwing her in the air and catching her.
"Why do you need me? Vanoss obviously doesn't need me or else he would have tried to find me." I growled, why did I feel such anger towards him? Maybe for leaving me stranded for five years.
"We need you, because you made us all happy for the short time you were there. And, this sounds so cliche but you are the one. Everyone misses you, so Wildcat and I took the liberty to go and find you."
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"We need you to come back with us, Svana can come too. We have all their necessities." Wildcat said.
"Yes." Why did that word leave my mouth?
"Really?"
"Yes, I miss you guys and I don't have a life here." It was true, I really didn't care, Svana didn't really have a life here either. I could always enroll her in school there.
"Alright, let's grab your stuff." We all stood up.
What a fucking eventful day.
