Shinju stomped angrily into her room and slammed the door. She debated on repeatedly slamming the door but that might have angered Pein so she didn't. Kay looked over from the book she had been reading on the bed. "Something troubling you?" She asked. Shinju shook her head, moving to sit down on the bed. Kay moved over for her, saying "it's a someone. What do you want to do? Oh! Cover him in tiny cuts and then pour lemon juice on him? Or! Cut his Achilles tendons so he can't run away and you can take your sweet time butchering him? Even better-" "I worry about you sometimes" Shinju said.

"Well? Tell me" Kay said. Shinju laid her head down on Kay's lap and told her what happened between Kakuzu and her. "You know, you two are almost toxic. But he did apologize and realize that he hurt you. Plus you got to kick the shit out of him! That's gotta feel good, right?!" Shinju chuckled at Kay's attempt to make her feel better. "Look, whatever you do, I'll support you. If you kill him, I'll help hide his body. If you want to be with him, I'll still help hide his body after he pisses you off". Shinju laughed and moved off Kay.

Zetsu emerged from the floor. "You have a mission" he said, tossing them the scroll. "Who do we get to kill?!" Kay asked excitedly. Shinju unrolled the scroll as Zetsu sunk back into the ground. "No one. It's an infiltration and observation mission".

Kay pouted as she got off the bed to gather and check her gear. "Who are we infiltrating?" "Hidden Grass Village" Shinju replied. Kay's eyes lit up, "perfect fuel for fire" she chuckled darkly. "We're there to observe and collect intel. Not set fires and burn the village" Shinju said, rolling her eyes as she left the room. "Awww c'mon! You never let me do anything fun!" Kay shouted as she hurried to follow her.

A few days later, a singed Kay and an annoyed Shinju stood in front of Pein in his office. He pinched the bridge of his nose and asked, with a voice heavy with annoyance, "why did you burn the village down? You were supposed to be observing!" "Pacification?" Kay said shrugging her shoulders. Pein started to speak but stopped before growling "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY OFFICE!" and both women ran out.

Kay was laughing while Shinju was lecturing her about mission protocols when Kisame approached them. "Hey Kay. Can I talk to you?" He asked politely. "Yeah sure" she replied. "Are you free tonight?". Grinning, she replied "yup". Kisame's usual smirk stretched into a grin and he leaned down and said "meet me in my room at 6:00", his breath sending shivers down Kay's spine. He turned and walked away to catch up to Itachi who wanted to train.

"Oooohhh?" Shinju asked, raising her eyebrows. "Shut it" Kay replied as they entered their room. They passed the time by reading intel reports and gossiping before Kay had to leave for her meeting with Kisame.

Reaching his door, she knocked. Before the echo of the knock could sound, Kisame opened the door and grinned at her. "Come in" he said. She entered the room to see Kisame's cloak spread on the floor with two bento boxes. "I'm sorry that it has to be here. Pein is keeping us on a tight leash, especially after what you pulled in the Grass Village" he finished, chuckling. She turned to him with a smile and said "it's perfect!" before sitting down and picking up a pair of chopsticks. He handed her a bento and she was excited as she opened it. It held her favourite sushi. "I'm surprised you bought sushi. Isn't that traumatizing for you?" She laughed. Kisame pouted and said "it was" as he sat down opposite of her. "You are too cute. Thank you" she said as she leaned across the cloak to kiss Kisame. He blushed a bit but covered it by telling her to eat.

They finished their meal and spent the time cuddling and talking, catching each other up on their pasts, present and futures.

"What do you see happening?" He asked her as she leaned her back on his chest and his arms wrapped around her. "I'm not sure. Too much is undecided at the moment" she replied. "You think the Akatsuki will help with your plans?" He asked. She laughed and held up her hands, showing bare fingers, "I'm not part of the Akatsuki. Neither is Juju. We can leave anytime we want". Kisame slid his ring off and put it on one of her slim fingers. "Now you are and you can't leave" he said. "Hmmm I'll think about it" she said as she returned his ring.

They were enjoying the moment until Itachi knocked at the door and told Kisame that they had to leave for a mission. Kay gave him a peck on the cheek as she told him to be safe before heading back to her room.

Shinju was in the room, sketching quietly and lost in her own world, so Kay got comfortable on the bed with a book. Before she could dive into the book a blue and green dragon appeared in a puff of smoke. "Jōhō?" she asked as she picked up the creature. It unwound itself from the message scroll and wrapped itself into a ball on the bed.

She opened and read the scroll and sent the dragon back it it's world. She tossed the scroll to Shinju who caught it and read it. They wordlessly grabbed their bags and made their way out of the base. "Which way to the Hidden Frost Village?" Kay asked while looking at the night's stars. "This way" Shinju said as she took off running.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'RE GONE?!" Pein shouted at the members. "They're not...here?" Hidan said, shrugging. "Given the way they left I would think they went on a mission of some sort" Itachi monotonously said as he casually bandaged Kisame's wounds. "Bunch of brats!" Sasori grumbled. "When they get back I want to see them IMMEDIATELY! Now get out of my sight!" Pein yelled as the men scattered.
