"HEY SADIE!"
She jumped awake.
"Oh sorry, did I startle you?" Sadie recognised this voice to be her best friend and secret crush since 1st year, Maeve Cunningham.
"Yeah, maybe a little, how do you have so much energy at this hour?"
"I didn't sleep.."
Sadie grinned, "You are so predictable." "I am not.", huffed Maeve.
"Whatever. There's our bus, Maeve, I'll pay this time since last time you paid for me." "Thanks! Now I can get gum after school."

And with that they clambered onto the bus. "Two student, singles, please."
They made their way down the dusty carpeted aisle and into their usual seats, two rows from the back.
"So do you think we'll be in the same class?" Sadie asked.
"Hopefully, even if we're not we still have art, irish and english together."
"That might turn into maths too if I don't bring my grades up." "You'll be okay." "You think so?" "Yeah, you're smart you'll figure it out, you always do." Sadie smiled, Maeve noticed this and smiled too. "Thanks, Maeve."
The rest of the journey was sat in a comfortable silence.

They got to school 20 minutes later, the place was filled with sleep deprived faces and Adidas schoolbags.
They got into their usual assembly lines as the principal got ready to call out their names to file them into their assigned classrooms.
Sadie was shaking at the thought of having to go into a class without Maeve. They started calling out 501. The names went by slowly, building up tension. Finally it got to the C's.
Sadie looked over at Maeve catching her eyes, Maeve sent a knowing look and a small smile. Finally, "Maeve Cunningham." She watched Maeve walk off to room 11. Hopefully she'll be able to join her soon.

They were on the H's now. Sadie was almost teary eyed.

After what felt like centuries, "Sadie Lindtner."
She felt relief wash over her as she waltzed into room 11.
She met Maeve's eyes once more as she entered the room. Sadie sat down beside her and got squashed into a tight hug. "Finally! Your surname is so far down, I had to fend off so many people from your chair." "Yeah okay, Mr Popular, I so believe that."
"It's true, swear on my dog's grave." "Fluffy is rolling in that grave, cause you're a liar."

Mrs. Hampshire closed the door, "If I'm not mistaken, that's all of you. Now I'll pass around your timetables and we'll go through it. I'll also pass around this sheet with your guardian's contact numbers on it, please make sure any changes to their contacts have been updated on the sheet. You may take out your phones to check the numbers."
Once the sheet got to Sadie, she powered on her phone, her lockscreen shot up. Maeve laughed, "Why am I your lockscreen?"
Sadie smiled as she looked at Maeve's goofy smile light up on her screen. "I like to laugh at how strange your face looks." Sadie stuck out her tongue.
Maeve's face dropped, "Aye that's not funny, I've only got one face."
"I know it truly is a tragedy." Sadie exclaimed with a false frown as she scribbled down the last three numbers of her father's phone number "462" and handed the sheet over to Alice Haven.
Sadie was hit with a sudden force which put her into hysterics as Maeve glared at her.

Sadie regained her calm and squinted at the timetable now in front of her.
"P.E.? First thing on a Monday?" Maeve twisted her face up unable to hide her disgust. "That shouldn't be legal." "It's inhumane." Sadie sighed, still in disbelief.

After their hour at school they got to go home. After school it's tradition that Sadie and Maeve go to the sweet shop around the corner before they catch their bus.
Maeve ran into the little shop like a little child. Sadie laughed as she ran after her. She remembered her saying she wanted gum. "Sadie! Watermelon or... Peach!? Since WHEN did they get peach gum??" "I don't know, Maeve, but hurry on I've got a blister forming from breaking in these bastard shoes!"
"Okay, alright, I'll get the watermelon one because that...that's not natural...peach gum..."

Sadie paid for the gum and the pair walked up two blocks to their bus stop. Of course, the bus was late. "Typical." grunted Maeve, smacking the gum in her mouth. She gestured the packet towards Sadie, "You want one?" "No thanks the orthodontist said I can't chew gum." "That sad sad little man, depriving you of the good things in life." Maeve retorted.
Sadie smiled, "You're so weird." "Hey my mom called me special." Before Sadie could snap back with a smart reply the bus stopped in front of the two, the hiss of the brakes startling them both.

They parted when they arrived at the little park 10 meters from each of their houses, smack in the middle of them. They said their see you laters' and walked off behind one another.
