*Lia's POV*
As I grabbed my keys out of my backpack and unlocked the door I heard the piercing sound of a bottle shattering. I knew it was my mom, probably drunk as she constantly was. I entered the house and tried to pass the kitchen without my mom noticing me but no such luck since you have to walk through the kitchen to go upstairs. She stared at me, clearly angry.
"Lia, I told you take out the trash and look, it's still here!" she screamed at me.
"But mom, I did. You just filled it back up again," I pointed out.
She glared at me and took a few steps forward, grabbing my wrist, "Don't talk back to me girl! Now take out the trash before I dump it on you."
I swallowed hard and nodded. She let go of my wrist but I could feel a bruise beginning to form. Great, I'd have to cover it up with makeup again.
I walked towards the trash and grabbed it, walking outside and throwing it into the bin. I closed the door behind me and began walking back upstairs when I felt my mom grab me again. I turned around right as she slapped me in the face. My cheek stung but I refused to cry about it. I held my cheek with my hand as I stared at my mom in shock, though she has done this before. She rolled her eyes and walked back down the stairs, taking a sip of her wine.
I ran upstairs and threw my backpack down, locking my door. I sat on my bed as I texted my best friend, the only one who knew about how abusive my mom was.Lia👑: She slapped me again.
Quinn☘️: You need to tell your dad Lia! She shouldn't be doing this to you, she's hurting you and you deserve better💕
Lia👑: I can't, I don't want to ruin his relationship with her.
Quinn☘️: You said yourself awhile ago that he wasn't happy with her
Lia👑: I don't know, I'll text you later, love ya
Quinn☘️: Love ya too! Do what u need to
I heard the door open from downstairs and my mom began to yell at who I assumed was my dad coming home from work. I quickly rushed out of my room and crept down the stairs, hiding behind the wall to see what she was yelling about.
"I swear that this child we have is a waste of time. She is a disgrace to even look at," my mom screamed.
I felt my eyes water but I quickly wiped them, not letting her words get to me.
"And I've told you she is an amazing, loving, beautiful child that you don't deserve. That's it, you are out of my house. Don't speak to Lia ever again," my dad shouted.
I heard footsteps running out the door and it closed. I scrambled down the stairs to see my dad with his head in his hands.
"Dad?" I asked.
He looked up and his eyes went sad, "Lia, I'm so sorry."
"It's going to be ok dad," I smiled at him.
He wrapped his arms around me, "Thank you Lia."
He stopped and looked at my face which was still red from my mom slapping me. Then he saw my wrist.
"Did she do this?" he asked, his voice level going up.
I slowly nodded, not making eye contact.
"Lia, you should have told me! Was it just this once?"
I shook my head.
"She would have been gone sooner if you told me Lia. You wouldn't have gone through all this pain. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you," he began to cry and that's when I lost it.
I broke down, letting all the tears fall that I'd been holding in for so long. I hugged my dad as we cried together at our horrible memories that we had experienced with my mom. We cried for each other and cried until no tears were able to fall.A/N- First chapter is done! Hope you guys like this story!
