getting off the plane was pretty chilly. the airport was packed and all the accents were so pretty to listen to. i could honestly listen to someone from here talk for hours.

cameron was pretty sleepy as i had to wake her up from her long nap when we got her. she had a neck pillow around her neck while her eyes were barely opened. it was so early that i was shocked i was up but the time difference was the reason of it.

everybody was ready to get their bags and go but we all had to talk to each other in a circle before parting. it was all just a bunch of words of 'be safe' and 'be back here' by a certain time. not at the airport but at the hotel we were about to head off to.

it was surreal to be here to be honest. it had hit me that i was really performing at the opera house when i realized we were in australia. the nerves came back just as cameron grabbed my hand, "ready to go?"

"yeah," i said, letting her guide the rest of the way. we had to take taxis or ubers since we were underage. i felt like a little kid again feeling like there was more freedom then there was before even though i was 18.

when we got to the hotel, it was freezing as i expected. it was spotless as well snd the view was pretty great. cameron had told me that ruel would be here any minute. i was nervous to meet him knowing he wasn't apart of her family at all but had to pretty much pretend to be.

she was standing up by the tv, looking at the food
menu they had on the table next to it, "even though food here sounds great, we're all going to head out to eat some burgers."

"all meaning as in?"

"you, me, and ruel," she said, "don't be nervous, he's actually not that bad. he's just really tall-" she was interrupted by a knock on the door and i could feel my heart beating out of my chest. it wasn't even the thought of meeting him anymore but the sound was so sudden it literally scared the shit out of me.

she walked over to the door to open it, greeting him once it was unlocked. i wasn't sure if sitting down on the bed with him in the room was rude or not but i hesitated and stayed still. i nervously messed with my fingers while waiting for him to greet me as well but he just stayed in the hallway and smiled.

it was awkward for a minute of us just smiling politely and waiting for someone to say something, "hi," i said too quickly.

"hi," he responded, smiling back. i noticed the difference in height between cameron and him which made cameron seem like the tiniest girl on earth. just thinking about the fact that i was a but shorter than her made it even more intimidating.

"i like your tattoo," he said, referring to the one on my forearm which i always had to cover up for dance class.

"thanks," i said, finally being able to relax once i realized he wasn't trying to make a big entrance and greet me with a handshake or anything. i brushed my hand across my tattoo and listened the two of them talk.

the weird thing was how they seemed so close even though they met almost a year ago and haven't seen each other for a few months. cameron was an outgoing person though so her getting close with another person was fairly easy. plus, they had no choice unless her mom and his dad split.

"i hope you like burgers," the attention turning back onto me. i was able to really listen to his accent which was still so interesting to listen to which also made him even more intimidating.

"i do," i nodded as he told us that we were leaving now.

now that i was sitting down with him in front of us, i was able to analyze the features on his face. something i didn't expect was for him to be so charming. his hair was parted in the middle and seemed a tad greasy but it didn't bother me as much as i expected it to. he had a nice face shape that made him seem weirdly more appealing. there were things that i didn't want to admit about him.

the three of us went on about dance and the thrill of performing and then started talking about cameron working at the studio. cameron seemed fascinated about ruel's life a lot more than i anticipated.

he looked over at me and pushed the bucket of fries closer to me, "you're welcome to have some." the words he would share with me only being a few every now and then. it was small talk and i utterly hated small talk.

i didn't expect him to open up to me. i didn't want
him to. i wasn't going to and i didn't plan on it anytime soon. ruel and cameron seemed to have talked with each other countless amount of times before i even knew about him. they were a lot closer than thought they'd be.

"thanks," i said, pulling one out from the bunch and slowly inching it into my mouth. the restaurant was decent and it seemed as if ruel had been here a lot.

"can you move?" cameron said to ruel. she flicked her fingers past him as he moved out of her way, "i have to pee, i'll be back."

i sighed and watched as she walked past a few tables and found her way to the bathroom. ruel looked up at me and smiled softly, "are you nervous?" he asked me, "you seem nervous."

"what would i be nervous about?" i said, not quite knowing what to say. it was awkward once she left and she knew it would be once she did.

"well, i don't know but i know how my sisters act when they're nervous," he grabbed a fry and stuffed it into his mouth. he was polite when he ate which shocked both cameron and i. living in new york, guy's aren't very polite with their meals.

"how do they act?" curious to see if he could actually sense my nervousness that i wasn't sure why i had.

"they don't make eye contact and they do this thing where they bite the inside of their cheek," it was funny because once he said that, i let go of mine.

"that's just a habit, not nerves." i lied.

"that could be it too. i just wanted to see if i had telekinesis," he shrugged, stuffing a few more fries into his mouth.

cameron had walked back, rubbing her wet hands onto her jeans and slid back into the table. we were all ready to go and clearly stuffed seeing as we didn't finish our fries. as a thank you, i decided to pay the bill before they could tell. they sat at the table waiting for the waiter to come back only to find out that someone had already paid for them.

i smiled to myself and then looked up at the both of them and shrugged, "i wonder who did it." i said. cameron glared at me but ruel was clueless. unless his telekinesis was actually working and he wanted to play along.

"yeah, i wonder who," she said not keeping her eyes off me. she rolled her eyes with a soft giggle from her lips and waited for me to get up. she stood up along with me and ruel stretched his long body as he followed.

cameron walked in front of us being the one to call an uber. ruel was behind me, walking slowly. i tried to catch up with cameron before ruel was alongside me, "thanks for doing that." he said.

i gasped, "it worked!" i pointed my finger up at him and let my jaw drop. i chuckled and let my hand fall down.

"what worked?" he asked, furrowing his eyebrows down at me. he stuffed his hands into his pockets and looked ahead of us.

"the telekinesis," i said softly, letting the words fall right off my tongue. i wore a dress that was made to be wore in spring meaning no pockets so i was left with my hands dangling by my sides.

"i saw you walk up there to leave the cash," he told me, ruining the joke. i frowned hoping maybe he'd play along but sadly no luck, "it was really nice but don't do it again."

"what? why?" i held my hands behind my back, intertwining my fingers together. cameron was sitting on the curb just waiting while me and ruel were little ways back.

"because that's my job."
