The three men were seated at the back of the SUV. Kevin was so deep in his thoughts which made the whole ambiance rather intense.

"Hey man. What're you thinking so hard about? You look tense." Steve asked.

Yeah. That's how Steve is. Being considerate all the time. Everyone at the base knew Steve to be the most sensitive among the three friends. Alec was the Don Juan in the gang basically flirting with every pass by. And then there's Kevin. The most skillful Troegord of their community. He received the Alpha hood from Kyra, Steve's mother who was the former Alpha of Troegords. Kevin was voted as the new Alpha of Troegords two years ago making him responsible for the safety of the all Drachillians. Kevin was the perfect leader. He was serious about his duties and responsibilities and he has got his priorities straight. He was the alpha first, a friend second and a romantic?....... Well...... Never!!!!! Kevin was the guy to never enter a relationship. His short encounters with carriers always end up with meaningless one-night stands or just casual sex. Steve and Alec knew better than talking him into a date with a carrier. Just like he points it out, hopeless and time wasting. Because his mind was only focused on getting his work done and to ensure the safety of the planet and Drachillians.

However, Steve and Alec knew the real reason behind Kevin's hostility towards the idea of being in a relationship. He wanted no attachment to anyone. Kevin thought that would make life easier as the Alpha. Nothing should matter more than the safety of their planet and its people. Kevin gave an oath and he's sworn on his life to keep it. He believed sentiments towards another being would make him weak or even divert his mind off the one and only duty he's been assigned to do. Deep inside they knew how much he longed to be loved, to be the whole world of someone. After losing both his parents in the battle against Ridorns which ended up as a sad victory to the Troegords, Kevin lost the warmth of the two people who meant the world to him. A 3-year-old child may have not been able to understand what death was, but he sure did know that his parents weren't ever coming back to him, to take him to their arms and pepper him with warm kisses. All that love, vanished, in the blink of an eye. Then he realized how to live without that. And he survived. And with time, the whole idea of being loved by someone or to love someone seemed strange to him. Kevin even had a hard time accepting the fact that the two friends mattered A LOT to him. They are the reason Kevin survived as a little Troegord who just lost the axis to his world. They brought it back to him. And deep down they knew, that despite that cold exterior the alpha had a soft spot in his heart for the two of them. The three of them basically grew up together. All the fighting skills and tricks that's been passed onto them from their parents who were considered as the best fighters the Troegords have ever had. Well... until these three came along. Ever since their training as young Troegords, the friends showed a promising skill set and shared a deep bond to be the next leaders of the Guarding Community of Drachill.

" I don't know man. It's just all messed up." Kevin answered, rubbing his temples with both his hands. " The threat is still there. The radars are indicating there's an unknown vessel within the distance of 500,000 miles. Why can't we figure it out? I mean, that thing's been there for almost a month without moving, not even a little bit. All the more the reason why it appears to be dangerous eh?" Kevin continued. His tension even more visible from his tone.

" yeah I know. Listen! We can't really do anything against it till it moves closer to the Drachill from at least another 250,000 miles. With this distance, it's not even considered as a threat to us. Those are the rules man!" Steve muttered.

"yeah I know." said Kevin.

" Yeah. Stupid rules!" Alec interjected. "I say we get our space team ready and go see what the hell that creepy boat doing up in the sky. Flirting with us? Huh.. NO thanks!!!! I give enough of that already."
