Fabien looked at the torn and bedraggled book rather differently from Lyla. while she stared down at it’s strange leather casing with a purely horrified expression, Fabien was rather intrigued at this new mystery lying just a step away.

“It’s incredible…”Fabien trailed of as though in his own small world of wonder.

“No it’s not!” Lyla opposed stepping back with her hands firmly above her head. “It’s DISCUSSING!

“Yeah.” Fabien agreed. He obviously wasn't listening to a word she had just said.

“Fabien”

Nothing.

“FABIEN!”

Now Lyla was just plain frustrated.

“Ok then," she began “ I’ll just go over, open your bag and tare up all of the physics books inside.”

She took one slow step before:

"NO!"

And with that Fabien had come to his senses and returned to the world were he always checked old wardrobes for a secret  entrance to Narnia.

“Anyway,” Lyla began, “About that.”

“Yeah it’s awesome”

“Not the book ,the note on top of it” Lyla sighed ,she had expected, after he had looked at the book for a good amount of time, that her brother would have noticed it. Delicately, she slid out from the velvety red ribbon in which it had wrapped in. She felt the rough watercolour paper in her hands and began:

“My dearest Lyla and Fabien,

I have left you this book in hope it will help you both in future times. I sincerely hope that you will not come to need it but it is there encase you do.

I love you both dearly and hope to see your bright little faces again soon.

Love John Perheart.”

Lyla handed the note to Fabien who reread it again and again in disbelief. Once he finaly put it down he too had teary eyes.

“Dad” he said.

Lyla summoned all her courage and began with a cracked voice” Well lets see what dad had to show.” She and Fabien then lifted the book onto the desk and opened it’s mysterious blue case to revile blank pages.
