3rd POV
The six players were still in shock that Nigel practically have the jewel and has passed it down to Spencer's hands. Neither of them were also aware of the jeep coming to a stop when the backstory ended.
"With the invaluable help of your associates, you must use your complementary skills to return the jewel to the Jaguar's eye and lift the curse. I'm sure you'll want to get started right away." Nigel instructs.
"Actually, I think...-" Spencer was shook at this information and was about to say something but Nigel adds on.
"Good luck! The fate of Jumanji is in your hands." The six were then startled when the doors have opened by it self.
"What? Oh..."
"And remember: The goal for you, I'll recite in verse.
Return the jewel and lift the curse.
If you wish to leave the game
You must save Jumanji
And call out its name." Nigel recites.
"Good luck! The fate of Jumanji is in your hands. And Remember:..." Nigel repeated. As he did, the players start to exit out of the jeep.
"He's saying the same thing over." Fridge is getting annoyed a bit at this as he gets out.
"Return the jewel and lift the curse.
If you wish to leave the game
You must save Jumanji
And call out its name."
The six have took upon themselves to look at the view in front of them. It was beautiful to say at least, well if it wasn't for them getting stuck here in the first place.
"Well it looks like we're not in Kansas anymore." Dani mutters out, taking in the view in front of her.
"It's okay. You can handle this. In real life, people love you. You can hook up with anyone you want." Bethany says to herself.
"Yeah, keep dreaming Goldilocks." Dani grumbled, Martha nudged her to keep her quiet.
"Is that what you tell yourself when you're scared?" Martha questions without thinking. Now it was Dani's turn to nudge her. Bethany looked over to them and she was not happy with what's happening.
"Can you not judge me for like two seconds? I split up with Noah, I turned into a guy, and I cannot find my phone. I'm allowed to be upset." Bethany looked away from them, clearly not wanting to look in their eyes. Dani and Martha exchanged looks before turning back to her.
"You having your T.O.T.M again?" Dani raised a brow at her.
"Maybe! If I wasn't a guy!"
"Dr. Bravestone, here's a map of Jumanji. You must go to the Bazaar and find the missing piece." Nigel says, handing a folded map to Spencer.
"The Bazaar."
"Missing piece of what?"
"Cheerio!" Nigel farewells to them. He starts the ignition and began to drive away from the players.
"Whoa wait a minute!"
"You can't give us a ride to the statue?" Fridge asked.
"And remember:
If you wish to leave the game
You must save Jumanji
And call out its name." Nigel reminds them as he drove off, before he was out of their sight.
The six didn't know where to start at first, seeing that they're in the middle of nowhere, but thankfully they have a map to guide them. Spencer turned to Fridge and attempted to have him take the jewel.
"You wand to, uh, put this in there?" Spencer asked him.
"No."
"Come on, you're the only other person with a bag, Fridge." Spencer pestered him. Fridge shook his head.
"Nope. Nuh-uh." Dani rolled her eyes at this banter and came over to Spencer. She quickly but carefully took the jewel from his hand and put it inside her bag for safe-keeping, knowing all too well that the jewel needs to be protected from the wrong hands and get it back to the Jaguar statue until then.
"Here."
"So what? We have a map. So now we're supposed to go and find...?" Fridge trails off.
"The Bazaar. I guess?" Spencer said.
"So we return the jewel to the Jaguar stature, and then we go home. No problem." Martha said.
"That's exactly what Nigel said." Tim nods, confirming the redhead's question.
"We can't we just leave, stop the game, without doing all this stuff?" Bethany stomps her foot as she said this.
"I don't think that's possible for us to leave the game like that." Dani tells her.
"She's right. We have to finish the game. I think...I think we have to save Jumanji." Spencer says to them, before walking off and stopped only a few feet away from them. His back was towards them as he did.
"Damn, that is a man right there." Bethany breaths out, not aware of a wierd look from Dani and Martha.
"You do realize you're a guy, right?" Dani reminds her.
"Shh. Let me have my moment." Bethany shushed her, brushing off the fact that she is indeed a guy as of now.
"Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry. Don't cry..." Spencer stops and slapped at his neck, feeling a mosquito on him.
"...There are so many diseases out here. It's hot." He added on. Tim walked forward and stopped beside him.
"So where do we start?" He asked Spencer.
"I guess we start walking." Spencer said. With that, the six start their journey.
~~~~~
"Okay, this is what I'm good at. Playing video games. It's what I do. It's literally the main thing I do. Play a game like this, there'll be levels. In order to finish, you gotta complete all the levels. Levels are gonna get harder as we go along. We complete the levels..." Spencer listed to himself, on the information on what he knows about video games. The six have been walking for a while now and Fridge is feeling a bit agitated.
"Spencer, do you even know where we're going?" He asked him when the group stopped walking.
"Kind of." To be honest, Spencer was unsure of himself when he answered.
"Kind of? Oh that's good, then. We're in good hands." Does anyone else feel like Fridge was being sarcastic as he said this?...No? Okay.
"Okay, the missing piece, I'm guessing." Spencer unfolded the map and looked it over, the right corner of it was torn as if someone had ripped it off. Then his brows were furrowed in confusion as he looked at the map.
"Oh, my God. That must be what we're looking for, the missing piece of the map." Martha said.
"But there's a problem." Tim tells them once he looked over the map.
"What?" Dani asked him.
"There's nothing here." Spencer pointed out, turning the map to see if there's anything written on the back, but nothing was there as well. Bethany was curious and looked over it as well.
"What do you mean? It's a map, just like he said. It's a map of Jumanji." Bethany said, pointing to the map, and also not aware of everyone's eyes on her in realization. She can see what's in the map.
"Cartography." Tim said.
"What's that?"
"It's a study of maps." Dani tells Bethany.
"It was one of Professor Oberon's skills." Martha adds with a smile.
"Yes. That's right."
"Oh, so you can't see this, but I can?" Bethany says, taking the map from Spencer and looked it over once again.
"The characters we chose, we all have certain skills. So there's gotta be a way to access our..." Spencer paused when he pats himself on the left side of his chest.
Then a sound of a game chime came and a green box appeared. The six were shocked at this and they all looked over the list that was in it.
"Oh!"
"Wow."
"What'd do just do?" Fridge asked him.
"Strengths: Fearless. Climbing. Speed. Boomerang. Smoldering Intensity." Spencer reads before his face smoldered without realizing it. It's been like this for a moment before Fridge spoke up.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"What just happened?" Spencer had no clue as to what the heck happened just now.
"Um, you just smoldered." Bethany told him.
"Weakness: None?" Spencer read in question. Dani let out a whistle and smirked.
"Now that's badass." She said, looking over the list her friend has.
"How'd you do that? That, uh, list?" Martha looked to him and asked.
"Well, I just...I think I just pressed my enormous left pec." Spencer tells her, a bit awkwardly as he explained it to her.
"It's like the boob area. Let me show you." Fridge came up to her and reached out his hand but Martha slapped it away with a glare.
"Get the hell away from me."
"At press it in front of us...so we know exactly how..."
Martha was quite uncomfortable with this but nonetheless pressed onto her chest anyways and a red box appeared with a chime. Then she looked over her list as well.
"Strengths: Karate. Tai Chi. Aikido. Dance fighting? Dance fighting? Is that even a thing?" Martha asked the last part confusedly.
"You'll never know." Dani shrugged.
"Weakness: Venom."
Dani decides to have her turn to look over her abilities and pressed her chest. A purple box came up. The others had looked over it also.
"Okay...Strengths: Self-Defense. Healing. Strength. Chocolate? The hell? And Weakness:...Purple Flower? That's an odd thing to have for a weakness." Dani furrowed her brows as she read this last part.
A chime was heard and Dani looked over to see Bethany looking over her list in a yellow box. She noticed that there was a frown on Bethany.
"Seriously? 'Paleontology'. What does that even mean?" Bethany says when she looked over her skills.
"A study of fossils, I think. That's kinda cool." Martha says, complimenting her.
"Says the gorgeous karate badass to an old fat guy who doesn't have any endurance."
Tim then pressed his chest and a blue box appeared and he looked over his skills.
"Strengths: Hand-to-Hand Combat. Tracking. Stealth. Marksman? Marksman. Spencer what does that mean?" Tim asked him.
"Uh, Oh! It means that you're skilled in sharpshooting. Even with any type of guns, you'd be good at shooting." Spencer tells him from what he knew. Tim nods and looked over his list once again.
"And Weakness: Fire?"
"I hate this game." Fridge says, looking at his skills in a pink box.
"Weakness: Cake." Martha reads.
"Wow." Dani said before covering her mouth with her hand to avoid laughing out loud.
"Yes, cake is my weakness. Along with speed and strength. Strength is my weakness. Hey, can I...? Quick question. How is strength my weakness?" Fridge questioned.
"I'm sensing the irony here." Dani snickered. Fridge decides to ignore that comment and continued on.
"Somebody explain that to me. And why would I need speed? Why would I need to be fast when I'm being chased by an enormous killer zebra or some shit in this dumbass hat?" He exclaimed.
"You're also a good weapons valet." Martha pointed out.
"What does that mean?"
"Well, I think it means you carry our weapons in your backpack, and you give them to us when and if Tim and I need them." Spencer gestures to Tim and himself when he answered Fridge's question. Fridge just give him the "say what" look.
"You guys. The map, it's changing." Bethany tells them, noticing the changes on the map she was looking at.
"What?"
"What do you mean?"
"Can you tell us what the map says?" Tim asked Bethany.
"Okay, well, there's not a lot of information. But a minute ago, it didn't say this and now it does. It says, 'The Mighty Roar'." Bethany pointed to one part of the map and just as she said the last part, the group hear the sound of drums beating rhythmically, again, just like before. They turned to where the sound was coming from, but nothing was there. They assumed its a sound of a warning.
"I don't like that. I'm done." Fridge says.
"What else?" Spencer asked Bethany.
"Okay. And right there, it says 'From The Deep'." She tells him, pointing to another part of the map.
"The hippo came from the deep. The one that..."
"Yes, the thing that did the thing. That's it. Moving on." Bethany cuts him off, not wanting to be reminded of the incident that happened earlier when they first came to Jumanji.
"So if 'From The Deep' is the first level, then 'The Mighty Roar' must be the second level." Spencer says.
"So, which way is The Mighty Roar?" Tim asked. Bethany looked over the map once again, glancing up a couple of times as she did.
"Okay. If that is that...and that is here...Right here, I think." She said. Just as she said that last part, something flew past them, startling them.
The group looked toward what that was and jumped when the missile exploded after it hit the ground, not far from where they were. Then the sounds of engines were heard and they turned back to see a motorcyclist speeding towards them from up the hill. What shocks them more is that there were more of them coming up, and they're loaded with either guns or a rocket launcher.
"What is this game?" Fridge exclaims when more motorcyclists came.
"Run!" Spencer turns to his friends but notice they ran off ahead of him. "Wait!"
The players had ran as fast as they could, avoiding and dodging bullets and missiles being shot at them from the cyclists. One missile nearly hit Dani if it weren't for Tim pulling her out of the way by her arm. Spencer discovers that his speed at running is almost as if he runs like a cheetah, more faster than his average self, then he sped off past the others. Fridge, however, is running slower than he used to.
"Come on, legs!" He exclaims.
Then he saw that that Tim had ran past him. Followed by Dani and Martha. Hell, even Bethany is faster than him, and she's an overweight, middle aged man.
"Why am I running so slow!?"
The six kept running as numerous bullets and missiles were continuously shot at them. Spencer and Martha made it to the tree line of the jungle, along with Dani and Tim.
"Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God!" Bethany screams out. Once Bethany and Fridge caught up with the rest of them, they kept running, hopefully the jungles give them cover.
"Split up!" Spencer yells out, before running off to the right with Fridge. Martha and Bethany kept running straight, while Dani and Tim ran off to the left.
"Ah! This sucks!" Bethany exclaims.
"Do you know what happens in horror movies if you split up!?" Dani yells out, even though her friends were long gone.
"Now's not the time for this!" Tim scolds her as they ran.
Dani and Tim kept running further in the jungle as they heard the sounds of engines following after them. They jumped over a log and quickly hid in a tree before they hear the engines come to a stop. Tim looked to Dani and gives her the signal to stay quiet, to which she nods and watches as he stealthily exited their hiding place. Three of the armed men slowly came forward, looking any of the players in sight. Two of them that were in front were unaware that Tim tackled the third one from behind, once he knocked that one out, he took their rifle. Then he shot the other two from behind, with none of the seeing this coming. Tim let out a breath and came forward to where Dani was hiding.
"Dani? You can come out n--Oh bloody hell." Tim stops when he discovers that Dani was no longer inside the hallow tree. He then looked down only to find her footprints.
"You stubborn idiot." He mutters out before running off, following Dani's tracks.
Meanwhile, Martha had ran and jumped over the tree that looked like an 'V' and flipped over to the ground expertly. Martha was shocked that she can even do that but continued to run anyways. Bethany kept running, but then tripped over a root and fell to the ground, falling face first. She got up to her elbows with a groan of pain and gasped, frozen in fear when she sees a motorcyclist coming towards her. Before that cyclist can get closer to her, Martha ran past Bethany, jumped up into the air and roundhouse kicked him as she did. Bethany quickly moved out of the way when the motorcycle sped towards her and it fell to the ground.
"Wow." Bethany was in awe at this. Then she glanced over Martha's shoulders and saw that another one had come up towards Martha from behind, rifle raised and pointed towards the beautiful redhead. Before Bethany can warn her about it, a feminine voice yells out to them.
"Watch out!"
Martha turned just as a shot was made and saw that Dani had tackled the man to the ground, and Dani had fought with the man over the rifle. Another shot was made, but thankfully none of the girls were hit. Dani them land a knee to the mans stomach, making him hunch over in pain and Dani elbowed him the face before landing a kick harshly to his face once again to be sure he's knocked out. Once she saw he was motionless, Dani stood up but then hunches over in pain, holding onto her stomach as she grunted in pain.
"Dani!?
"Dani!? Are you okay?" Martha came up to her best friend but she skid to a stop when she saw the horrifying sight.
Dani had slowly turned to them, slowly and shakily removing her hand from her stomach. There was blood pouring from her stomach as bullet wound was shown in their sight. Dani looked at them and gave them a small smile.
"Run." She rasped out before she evaporates before their eyes.
Both Martha and Bethany were horrified and they knew they had to go if they stay any longer. Bethany got up quickly, grabbed Martha's arm and tugged her arm, motioning her to snap out of it.
"Martha! We gotta go!"
"What about Dani? We can't leave her!" Martha exclaims, tears streaming down her pale cheeks.
"We don't have a choice! Come on!" Bethany pleaded her, not knowing a lone tear had streamed down her cheek also. Martha turned back to where Dani used to be standing one last time and reluctantly ran off with Bethany.
Spencer and Fridge kept running and then hid in the tall grass to avoid being seen.
"Those guys have huge guns." Spencer whisper shouts.
"Oh, really? Is that what those are, Spencer?"
"Let me see your backpack."
"For what?"
"Inside your backpack, you have those weapons." Spencer reminds him of being the weapons valet before he motion him to get down when he spots the men coming.
"Got your weapons? I can't feel no...What's this?" Fridge questions in confusion as he dug through his backpack then he felt something and pulled it out, revealing to be a boomerang. Spencer grabbed it from him and looked in awe.
"Oh, yes. Boomerang, it's one of my strengths." Spencer tells him.
"What are you gonna do with it?"
"I don't know. Kill them, I guess."
"Kill them with that?"
"You got a better idea?" When the men came into their view, Spencer then had the idea to throw the boomerang.
"Watch this." He then threw the boomerang at them but unfortunately, the boomerang flew past them. Fridge give him a 'Seriously' look since their cover was blown.
"Nice work. Want me to see if I got a hacky sack for you to throw and do nothing with?" Fridge asked sarcastically as they both ran away when they were spotted. They continued running for a moment and sped past the trees and bushes as then men chased after them.
"Wait, wait."
"Oh, no." They both skidded to a stop when they spot more in front of them. Before they knew what was happening, Spencer's boomerang flew past them and land a hit on all of the armed men, causing them to explode as it made impact. Spencer and Fridge had their jaws dropped at this before Spencer had spoken up.
"It worked." The small victory was short lived when more of the armed men in motorcycles came.
"Here they come. We gotta go."
"I can't outrun those guys."
"We gotta go now! Get on my back." Spencer tells him, earning a 'WTF' look from Fridge.
"What? I would rather die."
"Jump on my back!"
"Nope. I'm going to die." Before Fridge knew what was happening, he was on Spencer's back as if he was on a piggyback ride while Spencer used his speed to run away.
"Put me down! Spencer! Put me down!" Fridge screams out from Spencer's back.
Gunshots were heard from behind them as they ran. Martha and Bethany emerged from the bushes and halted when they spot that they were at a cliff. A waterfall was nearby and the river was at the bottom. Tim emerged from the jungle also, followed by Spencer and Fridge.
"You have to be kidding me!" Bethany screams out.
"Oh, no, no, no!" Spencer exclaims when he saw how high they were from the cliff. The five were startled when they hear gunshot coming closer.
"We have to jump!" Martha tells them.
"Are you out of your mind!?" Bethany exclaimed.
"I would rather do anything else now but that!" Spencer adds, still holding his ex-best friend on his back.
"It's either that or get killed, Spencer!?" Tim tells him.
"Jump!" Martha yells out, before running off the cliff.
"Martha!"
"Jump!"
Tim follows after her, ran forward and jumped off the cliff and into the river also. Bethany panicked a bit more before closing her eyes and reluctantly jumping off the cliff, screaming out babbling nonsense as she did.
"We gotta jump!"
"We don't even know how deep that water is."
"We gotta go!"
"No, no!"
"You're gonna jump! Jump!""NO!" Spencer and Fridge had kept bickering a bit longer until Fridge has enough of this. He harshly pulls at Spencer's ear to force him to move his ass. Spencer screamed out in pain before he stumbled and they both fell off the cliff and into the water. Once they resurfaced, they both swim after Tim, Martha, and Bethany, who swam to the shore and got out of the water safely.
"Oh! I think I'm having a coronary! I'm having difficulty breathing." Spencer says as they all walkedout of the water. Bethany groans out, laying on a boulder behind her.
"That was the most humiliating moment of my life. Don't you do that again?" Fridge exclaims to Spencer as he got out of the water.
"I took in a lot of water." Spencer said, leaning forward with his hands on his knees. Martha was breathing heavily and slowed down to a stop as she clutched her chest.
"They got me." Martha breathed out before revealing a gunshot wound on her collarbone. The rest were shocked at this, Bethany even more after what happened to Dani earlier.
"Oh, no."
"Martha?" Martha looked at them once more before she evaporated in front of them, leaving them horrified.
"Wait, what just happened to her?" Fridge asked in shock.
"No! She can't be dead! Not her too!" Bethany exclaimed, before Tim snapped his head towards her.
"What do you mean by that?" He questioned her, not in anger, but in concern. She said nothing, Bethany has no idea what to say.
"Bethany? Where's Dani?" Tim asked her again. Bethany had opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out. Tim is starting to get agitated and frustrated, but he couldn't help but yell out.
"Where's Daniella!?"
"Tim! Wait a second." Spencer intervenes before they heard a game chime from above.
"What the hell is hap--Ow!" Fridge was cut off when Martha, now regenerated, landed on him.
"Get off my back!"
"Are you okay?" Spencer asked the redhead.
"I think so." Martha nodded.
"Off of me! Goodness gracious, get off!" Fridge screamed out from the bottom, Martha then got off of him.
"I'm getting off of you."
"Anybody care if I'm okay? What am I, a human landing pad?" Fridge questions them as he got up and dust himself off. Spencer came up to Martha and inspects her tattooed wrist. It was down to two now and that's when Spencer came to a realization.
"That's what I thought. We each have three lives, guys. These little tattoos on our arms...Jesus, would you look at the size of that thing." Spencer tells them, before he got distracted again when he looked at his muscular arms.
"Spencer!" Fridge and Tim scolded him, snapping him out of it.
"What?"
"You were saying?" Fridge reminds him.
"It's our life count. Bethany got eaten by a hippo, so now she has only has two lines." He said to them. Bethany rolled up her sleeve and saw that he is indeed right when she looked at her tattoos.
"He's right."
"Wait. What happens if we use up all our lives?" Martha asked Spencer. It was silent for moment, except for the sound of the waterfall from nearby. Spencer looked to each of them before speaking in a grave tone.
"Well, usually that would mean...Game Over."
"What do you mean, 'game over'? Are you saying that we can actually die in here?" Fridge asked, not liking the sound of that.
"I mean, I don't know for sure, but..."
"You're not sure? You're not sure, Mr. Video-Game-Genius?"
"Well, I've never been stuck in one, okay!? So I'm not certain, but, yes, I'm afraid we all could die. That is my big concern right now."
"Then what happened to Dani then?" Tim asked, wondering where the girl is. Bethany and Martha looked to each other before they looked back at the guys when Martha spoke up for them.
"Dani got shot when that guy was about to shoot us. She saved us."
"Okay, so how come Dani haven't came back yet if she lost her life?" Tim was anxious to know if Dani is alright.
"I think the sound was covered when we were attacked back there." Spencer tells them.
"So, Dani's still out there?"
"Besically, yes. She could still be out there, somewhere." Spencer said, looking over at the cliff above.
"We better find Dani and the missing piece, then." Martha said, anxious to find her best friend.
"And there's also problem..."
"What?"
"...Dani has the jewel in her bag just before we were attacked..." Spencer said gravely, looking over to Tim in concern.
Well, The mighty roar is done! Okay, so what do you think of this chapter so far?And Dani is missing! Not only that, she has the sacred jewel with her! What's going to happen now? Predictions anyone?I already have made a title for the next chapter; it will be called 'Tracking of Feelings'.
