I woke up in the morning to the sound of  a knock on my door.

I let out a groan, about to yell at Aiden for waking me up so early, when I remembered where I was. That he wasn't here.

"Coming!" I yelled at whoever was knocking on my door before I went in one of my drawers and pulled out a long sleeve shirt to cover the tank top I was wearing. Once I was finished I walked over and opened the door. I was surprised when I saw a girl about my age, she had shoulder length blonde hair with wide, innocent brown eyes. I only noticed she was holding a medium sized box in her hand, after she extended her arms to give it to me. Upon seeing my look of confusion she started giggling.

"Hi" she said in a sickly sweet voice, "My name's Stella. Mr. Collins asked me to bring this to you. i'm fairly certain its your uniforms for this year." She had a huge smile on her face the whole time she talked to me. I noticed that she was already dressed in what I guessed was the schools uniform. "Well... are you going to take them? My arms are getting kind of tired holding these out." She let out the purest giggle i have ever heard.

"Er, I'm sorry. Thank you, my name's Aella." I quickly took the box out of her hand and noticed that it was actually pretty heavy to be just containing uniforms.

"I know! Your name is Aella Rose, you're 16 years old, you're approximately 5'3, I'm not quite sure what your sin is yet, but i'm sure i'll find out soon. You also happen to be the only new person to the academy that has ever started in a grade higher than second. Everyone's curious to who you are and how you managed to stay away from academy life for so long. My guess was that your sin didn't come in until your 16th birthday, that's not entirely unheard of and-"

"Okay!" I all but hollered out at her, my head was getting jumbled from all her rambling. I saw the look of shock on her face from me just yelling at her and i immediately felt bad. "I'm sor-" I began to apologize only to get cut off but her laughter.

"No, I'm sorry! I have the tendency to ramble sometimes. I'm fairly it has something to do with my sin." There she goes, using that word again. Sin

"What exactly is that?" I asked her confused, but curious.

"What's what? Sin? That's what our abilities are called silly, that's why this is called 'sin academy'." She started giggling again, I assumed she was just a naturally happy person. "My sin is knowledge. I know I know, its not the coolest one out there, but hey it's very useful. Speaking of sins, what's yours?" She asked, looking at me with excited eyes.

"Oh, i-" I got a little tongue tied, not knowing how to answer, "I'd rather not-"

"Stella!" I got cut off, yet again, by a voice yelling in the distance. I looked over and saw a girl with long black hair and an off the shoulder purple shirt with black ripped jeans. She stopped walking once she was right next to Stella. "Are you done yet? I wanna go get breakfast already." The new girl in the group asked, not even sparing a glance at me.

"Oh i'm sorry Nova!" Stella looked over at her, who i now knew was Nova, before turning her attention back to me. "Hey Aella, why don't you come get breakfast with us! It'll be fun getting to know you!" She requested, just as excited as she has been since I met her. I looked between the two girls, questioning myself if i wanted to go or not.

"Sure, do you mind if i change real fast?" In the end I couldn't stop myself from smiling just as wide as Stella was. I think Nova was about to complain, but the blonde haired beat her to a response.

"Nope, its no problem, take your time! We'll be right here waiting."

With that I went back into my dorm room and closed the door. I quickly change out of my night clothes and into something a little more appropriate. I didn't think I'd have to wear my uniform today, considering there wasn't classes until tomorrow, and Nova also wasn't wearing hers. Once i finished getting dressed and brushing my hair and teeth, I slid on some shoes and went outside to see that both of the girls were still standing right outside my dorm room.

"Thank you for waiting." I said with a smile as we made our way to the cafeteria.

I wasn't too hungry due to the fact that i was still pretty nervous about being at the academy. I opted for something small for breakfast. The three of us found a table and ended up talking about our class schedules. Turned out we had a lot of classes together. Stella said it was because we were all in the same year, and the only reason some of the classes were different was based off our, as they call them, sins.

Stella went on to tell me all about her sin and how she came to the academy at age 9. She also told me about how she first met Nova. Apparently when Stella first joined the academy she was super nervous, much like me, and just started randomly telling facts to Nova, the first person she'd seen. And instead of 'beating her up', as black haired girl had put it, she decided to befriend her.

The conversation was mainly me asking questions about their friendship, Stella answered them all, while Nova pitched in here and there to offer more details. Overall both of the girls were super nice, I found myself really enjoying their company. Maybe this won't be as bad as I thought.

Once we finished our breakfast Stella invited me to go with them back to her dorm to watch a movie on her laptop. As fun as that sounded I decided against it, and told them I wanted to go map out my classes so I knew where to go tomorrow. Stella, of course, offered to take me and show me around, but I insisted that she went to go watch her movie, reassuring her that I could find my way around on my own.

It wasn't too hard to find my way around the building. I only got lost once around the now familiar halls. I felt pretty confident that I'd be able to find my way around tomorrow. I was walking down the main corridors of the building, about to head back to my dorm, when I heard someone calling my name.

"Ms. Rose, what a pleasant surprise." I looked over to see that it was the chairman, Mr. Collins. He was standing in front of his office door, talking to another student, as he beckoned me over.

"Yes?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to why he called me over while talking to someone else. I turned from Mr. Collins to the boy next to him, my breath caught for a second when i looked at him. He was handsome, messy black hair, defined jaw, and the most captivating amber eyes I have ever seen. That's not what caught my surprise however. Yes, he was indeed very good looking, but he also looked very angry. His head turned to look at the new addition to the conversation. The scowl on his face deepening, as well as the temperature in the room rising. I couldn't look away from his eyes, noticing that there were almost a deep red color.

"Isaac," Mr. Collins started, "Isaac you need to calm down." I could hear the slight worry in his voice as he walked closer to the now red eyed boy.

I broke eye contact with him when I smelt something burning. I looked inside the chairman's office and noticed that his whole desk was now a flame.

"God dammit," the chairman muttered under his breath, taking a step closer to the boy. That only seemed to making him more angry, as I watched the rest of the mans office burst into flames.

I let out a gasp and took a step back as I noticed the fire spreading, quickly. It was so hot in here, I could barely breathe. I started coughing from all the smoke entering my lungs, everything in my body willed for it to stop, willed for everything to clear, but nothing happened. I looked down at the bracelet on my arm, gripping it before I tugged it off my wrist.

Breathe, I thought, you need to breathe. I closed my eyes, squeezing the bracelet in my hand tightly as I thought about the fire disappearing, as I imagined what it felt like to be able to breathe again.

And suddenly everything stopped. It was no longer hot in the building, I couldn't hear the sound of the fire burning anymore, and yet somehow, I still couldn't breathe. I let go of the bracelet I was gripping in my hand to start scratching at my throat. Breathe, I just wanted to breathe. Please. I felt tears beginning to pool in my eyes from the lack of oxygen. Breathe dammit! My mind started shouting at my body.

I started gasping, as I was finally able to bring air into my body again. I looked up to see that the black haired boy, and Mr. Collins were doing the same. I felt relief that the fire was gone and that no one got hurt.

I was able to pull my lips into a tight smile before I started seeing black circles in my vision. I tried to look at my hand in front of me but everything was so blurry.

I was able to take another deep breath before the rest of my body collapsed on the ground.
