Callinan Farrell was agitated. His annoyance could be felt with each swing of the broadsword gripped tightly with both his hands. Even training seemed to not reduce his impatience.
He had known that he should have travelled with the Crown Prince. As an elite knight, he knew his duty was to protect the royal family. It was unfortunate that he had been struck with a fever. Even more unfortunate that the little Prince had noticed and thrown a tantrum. The second Prince always got what he wanted and should one complain, he would find a way to make them regret.
Due to Prince Conri's urgings, Callinan was forced to remain in the Capital while the Crown Prince toured the country. And then the Crown Prince disappeared...
Callinan felt as though he had let the King down.
Callinan continued to swing the broadsword gallantly. The other knights had all left the training grounds- intimidated by the permeating aura of anger swirling around the elite. With each powerful swing his muscles tautened and sweat trickled down his brow. He was determined to push himself to the absolute edge of his endurance.
"Callinan!" A melodious voice called. The voice made Callinan's irritation rise even more. He nearly spat blood trying to contain his emotions. Slowly he lowered and then sheathed his sword before turning and bowing in respect to the child.
"Greetings to the second prince." He spoke each word slowly with the hint of an intractable accent.
The second prince was three years younger then the Crown Prince and better acted the part of a child. He was arrogant and headstrong, always getting what he wanted before throwing it away. And for some strange reason, the boy had attached himself to Callinan.
"Mother and Father said to notify you that they would like for you to search for big brother." As he spoke Prince Conri blinked his large hazel eyes innocently at the knight.
Callinan frowned at the boy. He should have been allowed to search for the Crown Prince a month ago before the ministers could get ahold of the news.
"Big brother has always had an abnormal amount of luck. Why are you so worried?" Conri laughed mischievously.
Indeed, Kazimir had gone missing before. Various kidnapping attempts had been committed by unhappy officials looking to cause chaos. Each time not only had Kazimir returned, he would also stumble upon a fortune along the way. Once, he had fallen down a cliff during the annual hunt. The King had brought the boy along in order to "cultivate personality". However, Kazimir was soft hearted and tried to stop the party from hunting an isolated wolf. During the scuffle, where Kazimir was uncharacteristically emotional, he had been push and stumbled over the edge of a nearby cliff.
The event made the Queen frantic with worry. Fortunately, about a week later, Kazimir had been found returning by himself to the city and in his possession was a spatial storage device which could be classified as a national treasure.
Kazimir's luck... It truly made others envious.
Callinan sighed in resignation. "I understand, your highness." He spoke as he turned to leave, carelessly swiping the sweat off his brow. In his thoughtfulness Callinan missed the unhappiness that appeared on Conri's face.
Conri also turned to leave while muttering petulantly under his breath. "Why are you always so formal? Why can't you just be my friend?"
Kazimir was completely unaware of the trouble he had caused. He believed that his family would not worry about him. After several disappearances, the royal family had grown numb towards Kazimir's OP luck stats. This did not mean they weren't worried or stopped caring for Kazimir. It simply meant that they had become immune to the forces that guided Kazimir. Now every time he returned to the palace, there was an air of exasperation that hung over his family members.
