Alec's POV:

Zack pulls the car up alongside the road and parks. I can hear the thumping, headache inducing, music from way back here and I roll my eyes. Tonight was gonna be a long night.

Zack lets out a little chuckle at my obvious desire to disappear, but I ignore him, which just causes him to chuckle even more, a large grin slowly spreading across his face.

"Shut up Zack." I tell him and step out of the car.

"You know you didn't have to come." He points out and again I ignore him. Of course I had to come. I don't care how bad of an idea this is, or how many times I was told this plan of mine was ridiculous. I still have to do it.

I think back to the conversation I had with my sister the night before.

"Okay, that's it. If you don't tell me what's going on right now, I'm gonna kick you out." She had told me.

"I already told you. I had a fight with Hunter and I just felt like I needed space." I said in a whiny tone. "Now let me sleep."

"Alec, look. You're my baby brother and I love you, but as a professor I can't be making exceptions, not even for you. School policy is very strict on this. All students living in the dorm must be in their rooms by curfew." She scolded me and I had rolled my eyes at her.

"Come on Kate, we're adults, no one cares." I said back and this time she rolled her eyes in my direction.

"Just tell me what's going on." She demanded.

"Hunter has been cheating on me." I finally said and her eyes widened at my words.

"I'm gonna fucking kill that little shit." She shouted and began heading for the door.

"Wait, no Kate. Stop, calm your ass down. It's okay!" I had shouted after her and she stopped dead in her tracks.

"What part of it is okay? That motherfucking cocksucker hurt my little brother. I'm not just gonna let him get away with that! I can't believe you're defending-"

"It's okay Kate. I have it handled." I interrupted quickly before her rant could go on any longer.

"What do you mean you have it handled?" She asked quickly before looking me in the face. I watched as her eyebrows lowered and she gave me a 'what are you plotting you little devil?' look. "Alec I know that face. What are you thinking?"

"Nothing." I said innocently, but her look just deepened until I began to squirm under her gaze.

"Don't tell me..." She trailed off before giving me a stern glance. "You gotta be kidding me? Revenge really? How old are you, thirteen?" She scolded again and I scowled at her.

"I happen to think my plan is great." I defended.

"You sound like a desperate middle schooler." She said and rolled her eyes. "I hope you realize it's not going to make you feel better."

"I know it won't, but maybe if he gets a taste of his own medicine he won't do it to anyone else." I had said back.

"Your plan only works if he has feelings for you and call me sceptical, but I don't think he does or ever did..."

That had been the last thing she said before she left the room and I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me. Even now her words seem to echo in my ears, almost breaking my resolve.

"Hello? Earth to Alec. You coming?" Zach calls to me from the entrance of the house and I start walking towards him.

"Yeah. I was just thinking." I say when we meet at the door.
