Beep... Beep... Beep...

My eyes opened to the sight of people standing over me...

Who are they?

Where am I?

My mind slowly became aware of my surroundings. The sour smell of lemon disinfectant filled my nose. My body felt heavy. I couldn't move.

A tall man with glasses and a surgical mask stood over me. He said something, but I couldn't hear very well. He wrote on his clipboard and walked away.

I turned my head slowly. I remembered my parents. There they were, sitting quietly. They smiled at me, but I could see the worry in their eyes.

"How are you feeling?" My mom spoke quietly.

"Heavy." I looked at myself. I had a bandage on my leg.

"The surgery went well, Jin Xiuying. The stitches have successfully stopped the blood flow from your wounds. You will be out of the hospital in about a month." The doctor's voice boomed in my ears.

A month? Stitches? Wounds?

I remember what happened now.
