They can lock the front door to keep me in the house

They can lock the front door to keep me in the house. They can bruise my knuckles and scar my arms. They can break my bones and scare me with torture. They can demand discipline and force me to live in the household that's ruled by mental terror. But they could never break the magic that bubbles in me. They can't break my sorry excuse of a soul.

Fergus stood in the untouched bathroom, he had never dared to move anything. But he kept glaring at himself from the mirror. The man that looked back, wasn't the Fergus Finlay who had been running down the street to get tacos with Ref, this man wasn't the teen who had stolen food and blamed the younger kids in the orphanage. No, this man was angry. This man had something unnatural and dangerous in him, a monster.

The golden in his eyes was swirling, emitting danger. Even when he wasn't bending closer to the mirror, he could still see the pecs of his usual green in them, they were slowly flowing in the irises, yet, the golden color was overpowering the old him, the average Fergus. "Go away." he growled, gritting his teeth so hard he was afraid he'd break his jaw.

And slowly, as if someone was washing away the golden in his eyes, it vanished. And with that, the unimaginable rage as well. His shoulders relaxed, and the throbbing in his wrist came back, as if it was reminding itself to Fergus. He turned the water on, dipping his fingers under the cold water. He blinked tiredly, freezing as he watched the water run down his trembling fingers. Why did he keep shaking like a leaf, be normal. He urned the water off, sliding his left hand through his mane of a hair, brushing it back. His right hand was still throbbing.

He slid his eyes back towards the mirror again, this time, he could see the boy he used to be. But in shattered mess. He was a shattered mess, or at least, that's what the paleness on his face and the dark circles under his eyes were hinting on.

He didn't sleep much, he wanted to blame Jo, but in all honesty, it was his own consciousness that demanded him to be awake.

Besides, he was still tense whenever he went to Refsters old bedroom, it was sacred place.

It was late at night, a little past midnight and Fergus strolled down the hallway. He made no sound in darkness, as if he wasn't even there.

He peeked in the living room, seeing Jo already cuddling with the red, fluffy blankets and drinking the apple juice she so much loved. He passed the living room, heading towards kitchen which had, to his surprise, lights on. He carefully manoeuvred into the kitchen, seeing Leah pouring hot water into a mug. Fergus leaned against a counter, crossing his arms, making sure the one in bandage wasn't under any pressure too much.

The girl hummed something under her breath, gouging honey from jar. She placed it into the mug, stirring the hot liquid while the spoon made the awful, high pitched clinging noise as it hit the sides of the mug. As she turned around, she yelped, nearly dropping the steaming mug.

Her brown eyes wide, she placed the mug back on the counter, placing her hand over her heart. "Jesus Christ! Don't scare me like that!" she said out of breath, still staring Fergus as if he had two heads.

"Darling, I'm flattered you're mixing me up with the man from up there, but it's just little old me." he purred, but Leah could see there was something menacing now lurking behind his mesmerising eyes. She composed herself, clearing her throat. "Look, I told you to keep your head down and do what they say. I'm... I'm sorry what they've done to you. But understand this, as long as you play along you'll be fine. Here," she stepped closer, making Fergus straighten himself and tense up. Leah halted, staring up at the tall teen. "Hey, I just wanted to heal your hand, calm down tiger." her tone was soothing, but Fergus did not trust her. Not anymore. As she raised her hand to grab Fergus' bandaged one, the boy stepped back, his green eyes narrowed. "Don't touch me."

Leah shied back for a second, startled by the his tone. But she was healer and healing was an instinct, she could feel his pain. She glared at him, which he responded gladly. She reached out, trying to grab his hand but before she could even say anything, Fergus' left hand was pushing her back against the wall, his fingers curling around her throat. He could see his reflection from her wide, brown eyes. And he was changed man again, his eyes were feral, large and golden again. Small growls left his throat, he could feel it through his chest.

He was so angry, furious at her. "You dare to touch me, me! You... You are nothing but a coward. You disgust me, how can you just stand it without even saying anything? These people are monsters!" growled out the man who looked like a figure from a horror story.

Leah was frozen in shock and fear, feeling his hands squeeze stronger against her throat. She couldn't even speak, a pathetic sqeak left her mouth as she looked into those horrendous golden eyes. It wasn't the Fergus she knew, no. That man was the opposite of him, this was a demon.

Before he could lose himself into the powerful anger and hurt, a melodic voice started singing from the doorway. "When you watch the world just turn away, and break the promises it made," Jo was shaking, but she had to use her abilities, she saw the tension in his shoulders, the shift in the emotions and the drop in temperature. She was scared for Leahs life." Without the dark the light won't show, remember that you're not alone." she kept singing quietly, gently, as if trying to calm down a feral animal.

At first, Fergus didn't hear her at all. She was just a background noise, nothing all. He could only hear the sound of his own heart beats. But then he froze and an odd, tingling feeling washed over him.

The bigger part of the anger disappeared, leaving him dazed amd still gripping Leahs neck. He pulled away, his golden eyes gone, replaced with the green. She gasped, her hands flying up to massage her throat as she slid down on the ground, choking back a sob.

But Fergus didn't move, and Jo kept singing quietly, moving towards the living room.

And Fergus followed, he didn't even know why, he just did. He was... He was calm again, and the hurt, quilt and white hot anger was gone. He was just listening to the child's melodic voice and the world was instantly a brighter place.

But as Jo finished her song quietly, Fergus blinked. Immediately having forgotten what had happened while he was under her spell. He jolted, remembering Leahs wide, frantic eyes staring at him.

"Now you sit down, shut up and look at the TV, okay? Here, drink my apple juice, it's good for you my insomniac buddy." the little girl said firmly, but Fergus could sense the hidden terror and shock. She was afraid. And she had a reason to be.

He was about to decline her offer and stand back up to go check on Leah, but Jo placed her small hand on his chest, startling him. He didn't like to be touched. "I said, sit down Fergus. She's fine, okay? I'll even go and look but you just have to relax. Breathe, look at the telly and drink the juice." and he did lean back, making sure there was enough space between him and the child.

What was going on with him? He couldn't stay there any longer, he was danger to everyone. Suddenly he remember that tomorrow they would try and murder Tony Stark. As his eyes slid over the clock, he realized that day was today.

He wasn't going to stay in the Lennons household, he wasn't going to hurt anyone else, at least, not until he had it under control. Whatever it was.

And in his shocked and startled state, his mind ran miles in a minutes. He didn't seem to be able to move, he knew it was Jo's doing, but it didn't keep him from thinking things through.

Little did Nick know, Fergus had a plan. It wasn't the best, but it was a plan nevertheless. And it would work, it had to work.
