"A polite way of calling someone stupid/dumb."
The dinner at Midoriya's went as well as one could expect when the two green goblins were emotionally unstable because of a sappy, heartwarming speech.
[Name] didn't see floods nearly as bad as the one the two people he had dinner with had caused.
Or it may be because society lacks a lot in strong water-based quirks.
[Name] also didn't participate in a more energy-draining activity than this night's dinner with his best friend and his mother... Now he understood where Izuku got most of his traits from. The father was still a mystery, even though Ms. Inko insisted on her husband working abroad.
What kind of a husband goes to work abroad and doesn't visit their child for 15 years straight?
[Name] might be an orphan, but that was way off--even to him... But who was he going to complain to, his dead parents?
He was gnawed at by the thought of his friend's dad being actually dead. All the time. [Name] didn't know if it was because of self-pity and because he wanted Izuku to be more relatable for him so that his own suffering is dimmed down along with his jealousy about his friend having a parent at all.
[Name] hated himself for having these kinds of thoughts. And at the end of them came even more self-loathing.
"Do I really even deserve a friend like you, Izu...?"
Not only was he quirkless, but he was a hypocrite, an asshole to everyone else and a liar. [Name] convinced himself it was to keep Izuku away from worrying about him or heaven's forbid--make the only trustworthy person in his life feel sad for him and pity him.
Izuku was miserable enough with being quirkless and have assholes like Bakugo and the rest picking on him, and [Name] didn't want to add any weight on the greenette's shoulders by rambling about his sob stories and how he actually feels deep down.
Reaching his home, the orphanage, [Name] pushed his thoughts aside and entered the building.
"Ah, [Last Name]-san, you are almost past curfew." the headmaster, Hiruko, greeted with his usual monotone and soft voice. If it weren't for the strange voice, his usual calm smile would have [Name] return it if the handsome adult wasn't so creepy. "We have a new member in the family now. Would you like to meet him? He's upstairs in his room. He's a bright boy, so don't worry too much about his stability. He's shown a great desire for company."
Hiruko had [Name]'s full attention now.
"How old is he? Can you tell me more? I'd like to help the guy out if I can."
"So kind... I am still very supportive of your goal, [Name]-kun. This society needs more individuals such as yourself. Ones who care about the well-fare of others, no fame or money." Hiruko's smile widened and he closed his eyes in happiness. "Little Minekaze is eight years old. His parents were murdered in a recent villain attack, leaving him orphaned. He was fortunate enough to be at school at the time it happened, I doubt he would be very social otherwise. That's all the authorities allow me to speak about, the details are classified."
"I see..." [Name]'s brows furrowed in sadness. The brat is so young and is at the time of his life where anything can change him for the better or for the worse. He really doubted the kid being all chirpy, though. At least not as chirpy as Hiruko made it sound, that old creep has a strange way with emotions himself.
"I am sure you will make him feel better. You are good with children, after all. It's almost bed time, [Last Name], you can check on him tomorrow since school starts at 2."
