When I was young my mom always told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be. To this day I am still unsure what that is,but whatever it is I know that I will succeed in it. High school this year had been unbelievably long and full of surprises. I would have never known that I would be the class president and the leader of the school organizations commitee which by the way you can't nominate yourself for top positions. I also wasnt aware of the massive complications that will be put on the school and its students due to certain "invasions".
The seriously scary problems started last week before the first day of school. I was walking down the street to my bestfriend Aaron Spencer House before the street lights camee on. I decided to pay him a visit to discuss the plans for the new school year. I approached Aaron's door hoping to see him answer the door instead his little isister answered the door her long curls bouncing on her shoulders.
"Hey Annie is your brother here?", I asked in a low suttle voice.
"Yeah he is in his room looking in a mirrior ,its kind of freaky if you ask me but you can go back there if you want." she told me with a wide grin across her face.
"Ok" I replied while returning a small smile.
I walked past Annie and headed up the stairs to Aaron's room. We have been friends since the 3rd grade and even now i still get uncomfratable with being in his house. It has always been something weird about this palce , maybe it was the pictures lining the wall on the stairs or maybe even the way his stairs squeaked with every step I took. No matter what it was I always felt better with sitting in the living room. I opened the room door to find Aaron in the mirror looking at his blonde hair and making faces at himself. Even though he was straight I have always found it hard to believe when he is acting like he is obsessed over himself. Most guys I know in our age range dont enjoy staring at the reflections of themselves but at the young girls that parade through the school.
"So I see that you still think you are the man huh?" I blurted out interupting his glamour session.
"I know I am in fact I know that I will win the "best looking" award in school this year" he retorted smuggly.
"Is that so, then why didn't you win last year?" I asked with a grin.
"Because Jason Viner cheated and got a haircut before the day of voting." he laughed stiffly.
Aaron has always been in competiotion with Jason Viner since the 5th grade, he believes that every year Jason gets uglier and he gets cuter. In my opinion Jason has always beat Aaron because he tries to hard to look good whereas Jason always looks good.
"There is no such thing when you have natural good looks." I replied
"Just because Jason has long hair and straight teeth does not mean that he is natural", he said with a jealous tone, "plus your only saying that because he is the captain of the football team and he's your crush"
"No I say that because you always get like this before school starts," I said sarcastically "and even though I like Jason we both know that you are my bestfriend."
"Anyway Jess what made you come so late?"
"I just wanted to see what we had planned for the next two days?"
"I was thinking that we could just hang at the park and waste time til Monday."
"Sounds boring but thats fine with me," I mumbled, "what time is it?"
"Almost 8"
"Okay well I should be going home for dinner you know how mom gets."
"Yeah okay i guess i will come by to get you tommorrow when my dad goes to work."
"Alright see ya"
I left Aaron house and sprinted towards mine. As I busted through the door the smell of sweet cabbage and fried chicken filled my nose. I couldn't wait to see what else mom had prepared for the night. Tonight was what my mom liked to call "preparation night" which was just her way of celebrating the fact that she didnt have to be with me and my 2 siblings all day. Like most families I had a mom, a dad, a brother, a sister and a dog. The only thing that was not normal about my family was the fact that we didnt have time for eachother. My Dad was a big time lawyer at a very popular firm, my mom was a kindergarten teacher and studying to be a desighner, my brother Ace was a 12 yearold with the attitude of a 17 year old and my sister Casey was a 6 year old with a mind of her own. Between all the activities that we had there was only one that brought us together and that was dinner. Mom considered dinner a time to bond a learn more about eachother. I considered it a time for my parents to be nosy about our lives. Whatever made my mom happy is what we all did. I wasled up to my room and closed the door. I was determined to get some alone time before my Casey relized that i was finally home. The sound of silence helped me to relax but i guess the universe had a different plan.
"Hey Jess can you come help me?" I heard my little sister's voiceasky in my daze.
"What do you need help with Case?" I asked sitting up on my bed sloly.
"Well i found out that when school starts I will be the oldest kid in myy class and that made me want to go to another school." she said enthusiastically
I wasnt sure how I could help her but all I knew was that she wont leave me alone unless I give her advice.
"Well if you want my advice being the oldest always has its advantages, like since yyour older you can leave class by yourself, or you can have the longest play time." I quickly replied.
"Oh that sounds like a nice plan." she said leaving my room in a hurry, " and by the way its time for dinner."
I stumbled down the stairs to the table a few minutes later and joined my family for prayer and dinner. After i finished eating and cleaned the kitched I went to my room and closed my eyes for the night.
