Amarynthe and Castel hurried through the busy halls. New recruits were wandering around trying to find their rooms, and when they spotted the two of them, they couldn't help but gape. They had already ditched their vests, but apparently that didn't do much to make them less recognizable. They were on their way to Isika's office. She was the leader of their squad, and her office often doubled as a meeting place for the squad as they did some mission debriefs. Today however, they were gathering because they were expecting a new member to join the squad.
When they reached the unassuming wooden door, Castel nearly slammed it open. "Be careful with my door!" a sharp voice responded immediately. Castel merely rolled his eyes as he made a beeline for the couch and fell onto it.
The two senior members of the squad were already in the room. Isika and Ura. "Sorry," Castel muttered into his pillow, I just can't take it with these new recruits." He let out a grunt as his legs were pushed off the couch and the rest of his body followed suit. Amarynthe silently curled up in the spot where his legs were and closed her eyes. "It's like they have never seen a human."
Isika sighed consolingly, "I understand it's difficult, but to many of these recruits, you are an idol."
"I wish I wasn't," he replied angrily with his arms crossed. He had gotten back onto the couch after his twin pushed him off.
"There's nothing you can do about it," Ura declared from his spot on a plastic office chair. He was sitting on it backwards, with his muscular body nearly encasing the back as he leant into it.
"No need to remind me," Castel grumbled, "I hope this new recruit isn't a pain."
"Knock on wood," Amarynthe replied tiredly. Castel rolled his eyes, but kicked the wooden leg of the couch.
The door opened and four sets of eyes looked up at the person who entered, "am I in the wrong place?" his dark eyes narrowed in confusion.
"Who are you looking for?" Isika questioned from her seat.
"Calamity?"
Isika stood up and flattened her white dress, "you're in the right place." She moved forward to meet him with a hand outstretched, "my name is Isika. I'm your leader. You are Sei?"
"That's right!" he replied with a grin and shook her hand.
"Take a seat," she gestured to an empty plastic chair before she returned to her own chair.
"Nice to meet you," the man with short black hair and eyes stuck out a hand to shake, "my name is Ura."
"I'm Castel," said person gave a wave.
"And I'm Amarynthe," the female with brown hair nodded from her seat.
"What did I do that got me in a squad with Amarynthe and Castel?" Sei asked with a laugh, but his eyes darted around nervously.
"Ranked top of your class," Ura's deep voice answered.
Sei's eyes bugged out, "seriously?" his voice cracked.
"We're an elite squad," Isika explained, "many of our missions concern the rising rebellion."
"There's a rebellion?" Sei's eyebrows shot up into his black hair and his eyes widened again.
"It's a small one as of now," the pale woman continued, "and our job is to contain it and try to extinguish it."
Sei gaped before he asked, "are you, are we the only squad charged with this?"
Ura shook his head, "there are a couple other squads." He looked seriously at Sei, "as a fair warning, sometimes our targets are human."
Sei nodded slowly, "I suppose that makes sense."
