The past

Robin POV

it's another day of work. I'm walking into scoops ahoy where I work alongside my co worker Steve the hair Harrington.

I walked into the store. Steve looked at me exhausted.

Steve- there you are. Erica and her little squad kept pestering me all morning. It's the god damn samples. They're abusing it.
Robin- tell me about it. We should start charging them for it
Steve- I wish. Anyways it's your turn to scoop ice cream. here.

He handed her the ice cream scooper and she took it with force. Not wanting to deal with Erica and the samples again. But it was her job so she had too.
There Erica came walking in the store with her friends trailing behind. Robin and the small 10 year old made eye contact. While keeping eye contact Erica rang the bell three times

Erica- id like to sample mint chocolate chip please
Robin- k

Robin handed her a mint chocolate chip sample.

Robin- that's it for today. Steve said you've already had enough samples this morning.
Erica- *gasps* whatever

Erica motioned for her little squad to follow her out of the ice cream shop.

Robin walked into the backroom where Steve sat on a chair in the center of the room. Eating a bagel. A bagel with no cream cheese.

Robin- ew how do you eat that with no cream cheese or anything
Steve- I don't care
Robin- whatever. You seem upset what's the matter with you.
Steve- Nancy-
Robin- you're still not over her? She's got her head up her ass
Steve- it's that Jonathon guy. He's dating her now. Or that's what everyone's saying
Robin- so. She's obviously moved on it's time you do too.
Steve- it's just that I can't find anyone else that makes me feel the way that she did.
Robin- that sucks. I'm sorry about that little stevey
Steve- yea. One day.
Robin- that's right. One day. But today right now it's your turn to scoop ice cream.
Steve- I can't deal with Erica right now Robin
Robin- no need to worry about her she's gone for today
Steve- okay fine.

That took place just a few days before they found out there was evil Russians right below their feet opening up the gate to the upside down. After all that went down the mall was no more which meant scoops ahoy was no more which also meant robin and Steve were jobless. After being tied together for quite some time and being nearly killed by evil Russians in their base Robin and Steve grew pretty close. They became best friends. That's what robin thought at least. Steve on the other hand slowly fell in love with her. Only to find out she didn't like him and had a crush on Tammy Thompson, a girl. She liked girls. For the year being 1985 it wasn't common to see someone be so supportive of someone with a sexuality of something other than straight. But Steve loved robin, as a best friend too, and he saw past that. He saw what was inside. He didn't care if she didn't like him or if she liked girls. He loved her because she was amazing so he continued to be her best friend and not give a single shit about her sexuality. They decided to try to get a job at the video store(a/n fuck Idk what they're called I wasn't around in the 80's/90's) it took some convincing for Keith to let Steve work there but robin worked some magic and now they both work there together.

Robin POV

Steve likes me. Like as in he has a crush on me. I didn't know how to take that considering that I found myself kinda liking him too. But it was shocking to me. I'd never liked a guy before. I was sure I was a lesbian. Until I got to know him. I was still figuring out my feelings so I Just led him to believe I only liked girls. I slightly regret doing so because he can get anyone he wants so if there's another girl he falls for he'll forget about liking me In a heartbeat. But so far he hasn't mentioned any other girl he's into. So I think I'm good. I should probably tell him how I'm feeling soon.

It was another day of work at the video store and Steve Robin and Keith were the only ones working. Keith was working in the back while Robin and Steve stood in the front. Waiting for the kids to show up.

Dustin: *shows up* STEVE! ROBIN!

Dustin went up to hug the two.

Steve- what's up Henderson
Dustin- not much. What's it like working here?
Steve- well-
Robin- it's boring.
Steve- very.
Robin- *lowering her voice* and Keith.. god he's something else.
Steve- damn perverted ass. He keeps staring at Robin like a creep. And the other day he put his hand on her shoulder like a pedophile she's only 17. liKE wHAT t-

Robin cut him off
Robin- *leaning into Steve and whispering* Steve
She gave him a look that said calm down it's okay I'm okay
Steve- *lowering his voice again* yea. Sorry. I just really don't like him anyways. Dustin, any movies you'd like to check out?

He said bringing his voice to a normal volume again.

Dustin- no I'm good but I need to talk to you *looks at Robin and back at Steve* alone.
Robin- *throws hands up like wtf* uh?
Dustin- sorry Robin, guy stuff

Dustin and Steve walked to another part of the store out of earshot from Robin.

Dustin- *raises eyebrows* so.
Steve- *confused* ... what?
Dustin- *clears throat* *nods to the front of the store* *mouths "Robin"*
Steve- oh my god *rolls eyes*. Look. Do you really want to know what happened?
Dustin- I mean yea..

Just then Keith walked out of the back room and told Steve to get to work. Robin was on break now

Steve- I'll tell you later.
Dustin- ugh. I'll just have to ask robin th-
Steve- SHHH dude! She's like right there

Steve went off to continue working. Dustin walked over to Robin
Robin- may I help you
Dustin- actually yea
Robin- with what?
Dustin- Steve. What happened with like y'know.
Robin- *confused* what do you mean exactly?
Dustin- look I know you know he likes you it's obvious he's just in denial anyways. So what happened with you two. You know. Before the demigorgan like destroyed the mall and almost killed us all.
Robin- nothing...
Dustin- you mean to tell me nothing happened?
Robin- yep we're just friends no feelings for each other whatsoever
Dustin- *sighs* whatever you say robin
