Being a cheerleader was never apart of Audrey Ono's high school plan. Her plan was simple; get straight A's, pass all her advanced placement classes, graduate as valedictorian, and go to an Ivy League school. Turns out, Ivy League schools actually like students that are involved in other things beside school, it shows that they can multitask or something that Audrey could honestly care less about. The fact of the matter was, Audrey needed to join something...anything to get into the school of her dreams.

Turns out being a cheerleader was the most low maintenance out of all the extracurriculars that Gerald R. Ford High could offer.

She had tried joining something simple like French club and chess club, but she found that both clubs required you to actually do work to be apart of them. Cheerleading, she just showed up a few times a week and cheered at football games during the fall. To make her situation easier, their cheer squad was actually ranked last in state so competing was something she never had to do.

The most time consuming part of cheerleading was going away for three weeks during her summer to cheer camp, something that couldn't help the squad if it tried and trust her...it tried.

She had tried to get out of it year after year since she joined the summer before tenth grade, but it was a mandatory task that not even she could talk her way out of. It was the summer before senior year and she finally gave up her yearly talk with Miss Klingerhoff, just coming to terms that this was just something she had to power through. It was only one more summer spent eating salads and running miles and finally she'd be off at Harvard, Duke, or Brown.
