It was now Saturday, Halloween morning. Jasmine was still asleep on the couch when her nana entered the house. She walked into the den and sat her overnight bag in the large chair. She knelt down to her grandaughter and kissed her cheek. Jasmine smiled, as she dreamt wonderful things about her and Michael.

"You better not do what I think you're thinking of doing with that boy... or whatever he is tonight." Her Nana chastised.

"Huh?" Jasmine opened her eyes rubbing them . "Nana you're home.  What time is it?" she sat up  and pushed her feet into her slippers.

Her Nana folded her arms and gave a disapproving gaze. "Why are you dreaming about boy? I thought I told you to watch him."

"Nana. Why are you searching my dreams again? That's an invasion of privacy. You know?" She groaned standing up.

She smiled softly and gently pinched Jasmine's cheek." I love you and that's reason enough.  And those dreams will be just dreams. Correct? "She  stared under her glasses as Jasmine's face bloomed with a rush of color.  Her nana picked her bag up and walked towards the  staircase.  Jasmine followed behind her with her blanket and pillow in her hand. "And I understand you've decided to walk with the land of the dead tonight." She sighed disapprovingly

“Nana."Jasmine screeched jumping infront of her. "It's the eighties. Why are you so afraid of Halloween? What has this holiday done to you?"

Her grandmother stiffened clutching her luggage tightly.  “It’s quite  a long story, Jasmine. And it's also the night I met your grandfather.”

" It was a happy night then."Jasmine nodded and smiled

Her face became distant and her eyes distorted as she envisioned that night  "Jasmine it's a night I'll always  remember."  Her nana exclaimed vaguely.

"Nana you look so sad when  you speak of it. You married grandfather you had to be happy."Jasmine stressed holding on to her nana's arm.

"Jasmine your grandfather was a big part of my life. There were happy times, but this night is full of evil and deceit.  I only want you to be careful. "She soften her face.

"Nana.  You talk as if Michael is some creature going to steal me away. And I know you had to be in love.  Because whenever you talk about grandfather you have this glow in your eyes." Jasmine told her grandmother hugging her tightly.

Her nana pulled away and nonchalantly shrugged off a reply. She walked up the steps and stood momentarily asking if she should start breakfast. Jasmine explained that she would be leaving soon for Tessa's to prepare for tonight.  Her Nana stood there, her expression not so friendly.  Jasmine didn't like when she stared so blatantly at her. She knew her grandmother had deep talents and she always felt uneasy when she could read her dreams and thoughts.

"Nana, you're doing it again. I know you hate this night, but it's not as bad as you think. And Michael is a sweet guy and I know to be careful, but you have to trust me."Jasmine sighed with deep desperation in her voice.

Her Nana scoffed and stared intensely never losing eye contact.  "That boy is something different.  He's not who he proclaims to be. Jasmine my itch has never failed. I'm a wise woman and you know I am."she spoke sternly as visions flashed before her eyes.

"Nana. I'm keeping my plans and I never want to disrespect you. But I'm going to this party with Michael. You just have to trust me."Jasmine exclaimed kissed her grandmother's cheek then walked past her up the staircase.

Five miles away Michael was up in his room. He hadn't long woken up and Jasmine was heavily on his mind. He grinned replaying the way he ambushed her with a kiss. Then he chuckled thinking of their conversation last night. He felt confident about his revelation he'd be sharing.  His courage had filtered and he was prepared for her reaction either way good or bad.  Michael sat up in bed when his mother knocked on his bedroom door..After entering she walked closer to the bed sitting beside him. She patted his leg and began talking to him. They talked for twenty minutes or so  before Joseph passed by his room asking for a meeting in the study. "I better let you and your father have that talk. "Katherine said standing up. "Whatever happens tonight son, I love you."she cupped his cheek then left his room.  Ten minutes later Michael walked down to the first floor. He could smell the over powering cigar stinch as he made his way to the study. Joe becked his finger for Michael to enter as he concluded his conference call.
