Grass whispered in the breeze as she bounded onward, dirty blue hair streaming in the wind. Mud splattered her old and worn out boots and onto her jeans. Her blue eyes smiled as she ran through the medow towards her home.

The small wooden cottage sat peacefully on the edge of a thick forest, untouched by the harsh city life. The girl breathed in the warm comforting smell of her mothers cooking and walked in, she was quickly greeted by her younger brother Jake who was jumping up and down excitedly.

'Mac look, look! Mummy made me a teddy bear! Guess what his name is?'

Mac smiled as she glanced up at her mother, 'Hmmm, Cuddles? Wait no, Mr Fluffy!'

Jake scrunched up his nose and Mac giggled, 'No! Those names are silly and girly.' Mac sat down and crossed her legs so she was level with her brothers height, 'His name is Corporal.Crumble!' Jake opened his eyes and grinned.

Later that night, after supper, Mac settled in her bed listening to the steady breathing of her younger brother who had fallen asleep hours earlier. Mac swung her legs out of her bed and placed her bare feet on the cool wooden floor. She padded soundlessly outside and climbed onto the roof, her bright blue eyes gazed at the star lit night as if she were waiting to receive a message. The trees rustled behind her but she thought nothing of it.  After what seemed like hours, Mac silently made her way down from the roof top and tip-toead back inside. The fire, nothing but burning embers and her mother obviously in bed asleep, Mac crept back into bed and fell asleep.

Little did Mac know, after that night her life would turn nastily upside down.
