She trudged back miserably back to the apartment, first long evening walk back of many. She left her books and left for Claire's place. She wouldn't let the same four walls of last year bring her down this year. She let herself in as always and flopped on the sofa next to Claire. "Do you want a drink Claire?" "Yeah, some tea would be nice!" Once she made the drinks she paid more attention to what was on the TV, "What the hell are you watching? This looks like an insane bore!" Clair huffed and said "Go annoy Matt if you are gonna be annoying!"
She downs the tea as she really can't stand the tv programme. She gets up and head to the kitchen to have some quiet from Claire screeching at the TV. She hits the speed dial to Matt's phone. "Hey dude, where are you? It's loud there!" "I'm out with the lads, did you wanna join?" "Yes please, Claire is being annoying." "I'll be there in 10 to pick you up."
About 20 minutes later, Matt and Ari entered the big noisy pub. There were people shouting and the TV blaring loud with the latest sports. They sat down at a rather large table with people she mostly knew. Matt quickly reintroduced them, reminded her all of their names. She settled in quickly but her mind kept wondering back to the boy in her lecture. Matt quickly noticed that she wasn't present and asked her how she was doing. "Matty, I'm fine. Ok? Don't worry." She still lingered on her thoughts more then what was in-front of her. After a while she started yawning and Matt decided to take her home. He took her up to her apartment and made sure she settled in ok. "If you need me, you know that you can ring me whatever time it is?" "Yeah yeah, I said don't worry" she said half absently mindlessly. He left still worried about her. If she didn't change her tune, he just might sleep on her settee for the rest for the year.
