I managed to control myself for the first few days. But as the crew was tagging a new manatee I saw The manatee of my dreams. Our eyes locked across the water. Of all the manatees in the swamp why did it have to be her?
I was quickly losing my cool. My self control and luck were waning fast. I quickly leaped below deck and threw myself crying onto the bed. In the middle of my uncontrollable sobs I heard a quiet "bump".
Barbra had bumped her nose against the porthole of my room.
"Barbra you must go!" I yelled in exasperation.
Nothing, except the Longing and squished face of an emotionally distraught manatee.
"You know I didn't want to leave, I WAS FORCED to..." I said through tears.
Still nothing, but now she had rebounded and was awkwardly floating backwards.
"NO DON'T LEAVE ME!" I screamed. I could hear The crew above me mumbling words of confusion.
"We can meet somewhere more private, how about midnight under the willow tree?" I asked. I just had to believe that she understood because she just kept kind of floating backwards but now she was listing to the side a bit.
