Chapter 4 - A Cry For Help
Tate's View

My breath went jagged as I recalled what happened to her. Why didn't anybody notice she was gone? Does anybody really care? "I was looking for Angel around the town two days ago, but I couldn't seem to find him. Well, until I went to an old, abanded building he liked to go to..." My voice shook.

I climbed the stairs, looking for Angel. There were no lights and about 30 floors to this huge building. I don't know why he likes to go here, it's so creepy and it looks like it could break down any minute. I shook my head and looked at the floor I was on. Floor 12. Ugh, where could he be?

I went to open the door but paused when I heard a loud scream come from one of the upper levels. I turned around and ran up the stairs, going up a few levels until I reached level 19.

I threw open the door, worried for the kids well being, and ran down the hall, listening for something that could lead me to them. I ran and ran until I came to the end of the hall, where I heard loud whispers and cries coming from the room.

I creaked open the door and almost gasped at the sight. There was a girl struggling under a mans hold as he trailed his hands around her four year old body. She screamed and cried and I quickly took a picture so I would have evidence to show the police.

I stuffed my phone in my pocket and ran inside, busting through the door. Once inside, I gasped in shock as I realized it was Angel. He was hurting and sexually assaulting her. "Angel, stop this!" I yelled, standing in my place and trying to get his attention on me. It worked as he took his hands off the girl and came after me.

I backed up as the little girl curled up in a fetal position, crying and screaming, holding her body and shaking. I keep backing up until I'm cornered against a wall, him pinning me there with his hands around my neck.

I screamed and struggled against him, clawing at his hands and kicking my legs into his. "Let go!" I gasped and pushed at his face. He growled lowly and glared at me through my fingers. "Stay still." He growled, making my body go limp and hang in the air. He laughed deeply and chuckled, dropping me to the floor.

I crumbled down on my knees and watched as he slowly walked over to the small, frail, and frightened girl. Why couldn't I get my body to work with me?! I want her to be safe! "Leave her alone! She's done nothing wrong!" I yelled at him. He stopped walking and my eyes out up as he listened to me.

"Shut up." He growled lowly, his eyes flashing a royal blue. He turned back around as I sat helpless on the ground. Sobs wracked through me as I watched the whole interaction between Angel and the girl.

Angel smirked at he as he shoved his hands down the girl's skirt. I closed my eyes tightly, hearing her scream at me for help. Hearing him laugh as she struggled in his hold. Tears wouldn't stop coming down my cheeks as my body wouldn't respond to me.

Get off! Get off! "Get off of her!" I screamed, finally getting my body to work with me. I forced my body to run at him, shoving him off of her. But, the damage was already done. She laid on the ground, her naked body motionless. That's exactly how I felt after he did that to me for the first time.

Suddenly, my anger spiked up even more. I slammed his head against the tile ground, over and over and over. This is for hurting me. This it for hurting her. This is for ruining my relationship with my parents. This is for almost raping Harper. This is for you choking me. This is for you killing all of those people. This is for everything you've ever done to me.

He pushed me off of him and shoved my head to the ground. I could hear my skull crack and I cried out in pain. "Get off of him." I heard someone whisper. He stopped for just a second and I could see the girl on her hands and knees a little ways away from us.

"Leave us alone!" I shouted at him, trying to push him off and he growled, going back to slamming my head into the ground. I was screaming at the pain and his eyes flashed a deep crimson red. Tears fell down my cheeks as the little girl screamed at him to stop, her crying as well.

My whole body was paralyzed and he laughed, getting off of me. He walked over to the girl as I rasped out random words, trying to get him to stop. She looked up at him in fear, her dark brown eyes filled with tears and her dark brown hair stained with crimson. He pulled out a gun from his back pocket and pointed it at her. "Get on your knees and turn around." He ordered her. She obeyed, seemingly against her will, as she begged and pleaded for her life.

My eyes filled with tears as I tried to move my body. I tried to say something but my voice wasn't working with me. I watched in horror as he took the safety off of the gun, making the young girl plead for her life and cry even more and him laugh. I wanted to move more than I ever did as a gunshot rang out throughout the building.

I watched as blood splattered on the ground in front of the girl as her body fell limply to the ground. I cried and cried as the monster laughed, staring down at the still body on the floor, her hair making a halo around her head.

My vision faded as his head turned to me one last time. A psychotic look rested upon his face as a wide, twisted smile spread across his cheeks, his black hair was messy atop his head, and his eyes were a blood red.

He looked like a monster. No, a demon.

I screamed and cried as Harper held me close, the others staring at me in shock. I sat like that for about fifteen minutes, everybody silent as Harper held me close and whispered sweet nothings in my ear.

"He killed her. I watched as he killed her. I wanted to be able to help her. No, I needed to be able to help her. But, the monster killed her." I whispered out as Harper held me closer.

"Tate, would you be able to testify against Angel?" Officer Thompson asked as he looked at me. "Of course. Anything to make him pay for what he's done. Plus, I can provide something even better." I told him, leaning down to get something from my backpack. I wiped my tears as I set the flash drive down on the table, making the detectives smile.

"Perfect. We can put him behind bars forever, maybe even get him the death sentence." Officer Thompson smiled as everybody in the room nodded. Perfect indeed.
