After a moment of this, Rachel looked up at Maya. "Please leave..." Rachel said. "What?" Maya said even though she clearly heard what she said. "I said 'Please leave!'" Rachel said louder this time. Maya looked at her, shocked that her best friend was yelling at her. "Just go..." Makenzie said. "Leave us alone..." Maya turned around. "Just.. come back soon, okay?" Maya said. "I'll tell your family where you are and what's going on, okay Rachel?" Rachel nodded and watched them walk away. Makenzie and her were alone at last. Makenzie got up, so did Rachel. Maya walked up to Rachel's house. She missed her best friend. She knew Rachel and Makenzie were close but didn't know they would take it that far. Maya knocked on the door and Rachel's mom opened it. "Hi, Maya, have you seen Rachel? We assumed she was with you." Rachel's mom said. Maya looked guilty. "Actually, that's what I wanted to talk to you about...." Maya said.
Maya sat down to talk with Rachel's mom and dad. "So you see.. Rachel and Makenzie were close friends.. but they took their friendship to the next level.." Maya started. Rachel's dad's eyes lit up "so their best friends forever? I'm so happy for them!" He said. "Not exactly..." May a responded. "Makenzie started to develop feelings for Rachel, she really loved her. And Rachel loved her back. As in... that way." Rachel's parents looked at her in shock. "Rachel is lesbian?" Maya's mom Asked Maya. "Guess so" Maya responded "no matter we accept her the way she is!" Maya added. Rachel's mom was still shocked, then nodded acceptingly. "But that still doesn't explain where she is." Rachel's mom said. Rachel and Makenzie has been walking to the beach for a while now. They have been talking and laughing the whole way there. Makenzie always made Rachel crack up. They both talked and watched as the waves crashed on the shore. Maya told us you two ran away!" Rachel found herself upset that she couldn't help Makenzie escape her problems. She felt tears well in her eyes. Soon enough, Rachel started sobbing. "I-I'm sorry. We just wanted.. I-I just wanted.." She could feel Makenzie wrap her arms around her. "It's okay, Rachel..." Makenzie whispered. Rachel looked at her parents. "I just wanted Makenzie and I to get away from everything for a bit." Rachel exclaimed "you don't know what she has been through! You have no idea-" Rachel got cut off as Rachel's parents hugged her. "It's ok, sweetheart, we accept you the way you are." Rachel's dad said. Rachel felt embarrassed. She wanted this moment to end. "Come home, Rachel." Her mom said. Rachel shook her head. "Sorry, but I'm not going anywhere without Makenzie." Rachel said. "We are better off together"
