One of the bodyguards stepped out of the limo, striding to the door where I was sitting and held the door open. "We're here Miss Mace." He said, with his earpiece and sunglasses on. Giving him a nod I stepped out of the limo, the grey suit and matching skirt displaying itself to the onlooking reporters. As my personal assistant Chris followed after, carrying a briefcase and a tablet. Unbeknownist to the Secret Service we have hidden our weapons in our outfits in case of an attack.
"Miss Mace! Miss Mace! Any confirmation about your father's weapons development!" One reporter shouted.
"Miss Mace! Miss Mace over here!" Another one shouted.
"Shouldn't you answer their questions? I mean that it is your duty." Christian asked as we accended the stairs.
"I won't. When I was born so many reporters wanted a first look and my parents have a restraining order filled." I said. "I have made a point to stay away from them."
"This way Mr. President." Another bodyguard said. Then they surrounded my father, asking questions. The members of the Secret Service then proceeded to open the doors for us, closing back again to shut the reporters out.
"Finally some tranquility is in." I heard dad saying this but Chris and I shared a smile. In the conference room we sat at the opposite side of the long table and waited for the mayor to show up. "Get me some briefing agents." He asked in a whisper.
"Dad, the gang fight is linked to the vibranium that has been circulating in the black market. The presense of these weapons has put the local law enforcement agency on guard."
"We're trekking on dangerous territory here director."
"I understand our current situation now Agent Bishop. You don't have to remind me." Then my phone buzzed in my pocket.
"Outside. Now." The message said. When I looked at the I.D. it belonged to Fury, my former superior.
"I need to go out. Eye patch's requested a meeting with me." Taking the signal dad nodded but Chris was confused about it. Slipping out of the room unnoticed I headed down the corridor and reached an empty room. When I turned the door knob someone approached. The bo slid out from one of my sleeves I whirled, locking the bo against the assailant's neck. "What the hell are you doing here?" I scowled upon the appearance of Jeffery's brother, Jonathan Mace.
"Agent." He begin.
"Don't ever explain. You betrayed your own country and escaped custody. I have promised my father to hunt you down and bring you in."
"Listen to me agent."
"No, you listen to me." I said. Then the door swung open and I met Fury's gaze.
"It seems that you two are acquainted already."
"I have orders to bring him in custody Fury, stay out of this."
"Since when you became so unlucky Agent Black, to cross one of my favorite agents?"
"Agent?" I snorted. "I don't believe him."
"It's true agent."
"Explain yourself Fury." I demanded.
"Need me to remind you that you are my subordinate?"
"Need me to remind you that I don't work for you now?!" I yelled back, highlighting my impatience. "My boss is Jeffery Mace and not you!" But Fury lets out a chuckle in response.
"I did push your buttons am I?"
"What do you think?" I asked back in a snarl.
"I'll do the explaining for him." He added. Upon entering the room Fury picked up a dossier and threw it to me.
"Agent Black. That still doesn't convince me about why did you betrayed your country."
"I'm glad to have some of your trust Agent Raven."
"A temporary trust. I won't believe you unless you have given me a reason to trust you." I replied coldly while reading through his dossier.
"I was deployed to spy on them and I posed as their bodyguard."
"Are you aware of the consequences? Those people you have indirectly murdered?" I questioned him. "Are you aware that your older brother is disappointed?"
"I died once but it wasn't real. I am aware of my brother's feelings."
"Okay fine." I said. "Why are you here?"
"To warn you. Someone is targetting Jeff today."
"And you're here to help or just watch?"
"I will show myself to my brother. I have been fighting for too long."
"You might have convinced your brother but remember : I won't trust you unless you have a reason for me to."
