While they were distracted the doors burst open but there was no one in the doorway.

Lightning struck and thunder boomed but there was no sign of storm clouds.

Eira's cries became louder and soon they turned into shrieks. They became so high pitched they covered their ears, cringing and dropped her. She fell but there was not a thud that showed she hit the ground.

After a few minutes the shrieking ceased and they groaned in pain having a headache.

Jonathan realized he wasn't holding Eira. In fact no one could see her anywhere. They also could not locate Matthew or Rose.

They had escaped.

"Come on Rose! Hurry!" Matthew whispered loudly while pulling Rose behind him. In Rose's arms was Eira sleeping peacefully to the sounds of their staggered breathing.

They reached a car and went inside, feeling thankful that it was unlocked.

Matthew removed the cover from under the steering wheel and pulled out the wires attempting to hot-wire the car.

The car revved on and he sighed in relief.

Matthew turned his head towards Rose and he could see she was silently crying.

He raised a hand out and wiped away what he could of her tears, in attempt to comfort her.

Rose glanced at him and back down to the baby, "What will we do?" she asked, unsure she wanted an answer.

Matthew sighed and swerved out of the parking lot.

"I honestly don't think I have an answer for that." he mumbled. Matthew searched in his head but he couldn't think anything through. All the terror and adrenaline were telling him to keep going as far as he could.
