Chapter 1
________
† Gabrielle's POV †
I laughed at the blond in front of me. He was singing 'My heart skips a beat' by Olly Murs, whilst pulling some Michael Jackson moves. His longish blond hair blowing in the wind. I kept telling him to get it cut, but he just wouldn't listen.
*
Me and Louis have been best mates since... Forever, really. His and my mum are very close. They've known each other since uni and were neighbours for like 19 years.
Him and me were average students in school. We were super smart (even if I say so myself) and quite cool once you got to know us. We both had a small circle of close friends and we got along with almost anyone! We were really close and, well you know how high schools are; everyone kept saying we're dating.
I mean Louis is OK-looking, I guess I just can't look at him and say he's good looking because we're too close, he has blond longish hair, electric blue eyes and white pearly teeth, unfortunately with braces, but he got white ones, so you can't see them that bad.
The fact why he's not over by the popular table consists of 3 factors:
1) Because he's nice. Our school was filled with horrible, mean and stuck up snobs. The fact that he's nice wasn't appreciated and they stayed away from him as best as they could. As if niceness was a disease or something.
2) His social awkwardness. He is so awkward around people he doesn't know and gets shy for some random reason. All the popular people in our school were overly confident. But once he knew you more, he could be really charming.
3) Intelligence. Most of the popular kids pretend they're dumb. Don't ask me. I don't know what goes on in their head. I mean me and Lou would rather get a good education than get to be popular for a few years in high school, but I am really not 'cheerleader' material, so I guess I can't talk.
Plus he doesn't want to be there. He likes having real friends better than fake ones.

'Earth to Gabby!' Louis waved a hand in my face until I blinked. I realized I've been staring into space the whole time.
'It's cool, I've landed,' I smiled.
'Ugh, come on, get up. I wanna show you something I found a few days ago.' He said taking my hand and hurrying towards the hilly bit of the neighbourhood.
'Aww Lou where are you taking me, this time? Have you found another dead pigeon? You need to start leaving them. The're dead, you can't bring them back.' I sighed at the animal lover.
'No, idiot. It's a surprise.' He winked.
'I hate your surprises.' I groaned.
'Stop complaining and walk.'
'Fine.'
We carried on. The grass was really tall around here, so I was very uncomfortable, as I was short. But I got Louis to give me a piggy back as he is quite strong and tall.
Suddenly, I noticed a tree. Not just any tree, but mine and Lou's 'The Great Big Spirit Tree'. This tree was mine and Lou's secret hideout ages ago, when we were like 9. We used to pretend we were the Native Americans and The Great Big Spirit Tree - AKA GBST - was the Native American God's sort of house, I guess. We believed The Great Spirit lived there. The Great Spirit. We used to pretend to talk to it, sometimes it became so real, that it was scary. I missed those days. When you can pretend that you've got something you want and that was enough. Unfortunately, you couldn't live in 'Pretend Land' forever. You had to grow up sometime, sooner or later and stop pretending.
'Where are you taking me Lou?' I asked breaking the silence.
'I think you know,' Lou said glancing at me.
'I haven't been here since that time...' I wondered off as I felt tears gathering on my lashes.

I looked down at my leg. I was wearing shorts so the scar was well visible. It ran all down from my thigh to my ankle. Normally, I'd wear jeans to cover it, but today was too hot. The sun was burning my legs. But strangely it felt nice, with the occasional breeze it was impossible to be hot.
Louis noticing my face grabbed my arm and pulled me into a hug, for a few minutes we both shut up. Just accepting the embrace, before Lou started to pull me towards the tree. 'I'm sure you'll love what you're about to see. Come on! Hurry up!' Louis yelled, running and pulling me along with him.
I groaned, but followed. What was he gonna show me? That's when I heard little 'tweeps'.

Hey ya'll!
Hmm... What kind of 'thing' or person or animal makes a tweep?
Something for you to wonder, while I write the next chapter :)
