it was the first day of classes. my genius self had signed up for an eight am on monday's only, but at least it was a relatively easy class. film appreciation, because you had to take some type of arts class to graduate, was a class that you could sleep through the films shown and then watch them on your own time. later in the day, i had a 11:00 econ class, which, again isn't too bad for a monday.

i rolled out of bed at 7:15 am, not bothering to put much effort into my appearance. i didn't put on any makeup, and did nothing to my hair but brush it and throw it into a ponytail. i wore a pair of sweatpants with a cropped tank top, grabbed my backpack, a protein bar, and a banana, and began the relatively short walk to sweetwater river university's arts building.

the weekend had been very uneventful, i thought to myself as i walked into the building and took the elevator to the fourth floor. i hadn't done much but hang out with betty, cheryl, toni, the girls across the hallway named valerie and melody, and the leader of their band, josie. we hadn't seen archie and reggie all weekend because they were busy with football, to toni's dismay and to my relief.

i took my seat next to a boy who was on his phone. i pulled my laptop and logged in before he said anything to me.

"hi! i'm kevin keller!" he said cheerfully to me as i went onto the schools website.

"nice to meet you. i'm veronica lodge." i replied. i'm not sure how someone could be so energetic at eight in the morning, but that is none of my business.

by the end of the class, we had already started to become close, bonding over the fact that we were both obsessed with the harry potter series, which we apparently had to write a report about one of the movies for our final. talk about an easy class. the only thing we did was go over the syllabus, and by the time we finished, it was 9:15, meaning we could leave class.

"well kev, i'm glad i found somebody to keep me actually awake in this class, otherwise i would've probably been sleeping right now." i said, laughing a bit as we exchanged phone numbers so that we could text each other if we had problems with any assignments.

i didn't know that much about him, other than the fact that his dad was a sheriff and his mom is in the army, and that he's dating moose, the other guy that i played cup pong with (small world, right?), but he was friendly enough, and i was glad to have already found a friend in one of my classes.

"bye!" he replied back, as we parted ways, me going back to my dorm to get ready for my eleven am class, and him heading to moose's apartment that he shared with chuck. i couldn't help but wonder if he thought of me. i didn't think of him often, but when i did, it was to ponder if he would be down to partake in our extracurricular activities again.

-

when i got back to the dorms at 9:30 am, almost everybody was gone. everybody hates the 8 ams,, choosing instead to go to the 9 and 10 ams. that was part of the reason i chose an 8 am, was because i would be back in the dorm at the time of day when nobody else was there, giving me the perfect time to take a shower.

take a shower was what i did. i went to my dorm, grabbed my shower caddy and a robe, and went to the communal bathroom.

i took a long, hot shower, taking advantage of the fact that i didn't have a water bill to pay. i washed my hair, shaved my legs, the whole shebang, while singing at the top of my lungs, knowing that nobody would hear me.

after i was done, i turned the water off, sad to get out of the comforting warm water, but i had to get to class. i wrapped my hair into a towel and put on a white fluffy robe before getting out of the shower.

i walked out of the bathroom, and walked straight into archie. just my luck, of all the people i could walk into in an empty dorm, it had to be him.
