Harry and Hermione found the Potter's old house and an old woman named Bathilda led them to her house. But what was intriguing is that she did it without speaking and she only spoke when she's alone with Harry. This was because she only spoke Parseltongue which Hermione would recognize at an instant.

Long story short, the snake came out of her neck, she turned into a snake and coiled around Harry. The locket was pressing to his chest until Hermione arrived (accidentally breaking Harry's wand). Voldemort was on his way, approaching but not in time. Harry and Hermione vanished before he was able to reach them and Harry saw all these in Voldemort's point of view.

Harry then dreamed of what really happened. Voldemort appears to be waiting for them in Godric's Hollow. He left the snake there to stall Harry until he comes. It turns out that Hermione was right. It was a trap.
