"Mommm I have to use the bathroom!"
I pushed my earphones deeper into my ears hoping to drown out my little brothers annoying cries.
"Kai we will be there soon, a rest stop is up ahead not to far just be please be patient," I barley hear my mother say as I shift my head back on to my older brothers shoulder.
"We'll be there soon sis, go back to sleep" Pika reassured me as I tried to doze off once again.
But of course it was no use.
My brothers squeaky, barley hitting puberty ass voice pierced my ear drums so that I wouldn't be able to ascend back into my wonderful dream land. Where everything was safe.
I guess I should introduce myself huh?
As you all know my names 𝖠𝗄𝖾𝗅𝖺.
'Say it with me now, 'Ah-keal-la'.Me, my mom, and my brothers grew up Hilo hawaii.
My brother Kai played soccer. I cooked, and in my freetime practiced my Hula Kahiko. And Pika fished.Pika is different from us, because despite us only being a year apart our fathers are different. But it didn't then and still doesn't matter now because he's still a fucking deadbeat. Me and Kaia's father raised him as his own. Pika also calls him his real father, as he's the one who stepped up to the plate, not his biological one.
Around 3 years ago my father got sick.
Not the deadly sick that made you think he was dying though. The occasional stomach aches and fevers.
But we knew it was bad when at one of my performances, he threw up over the bleachers.
I slept with him in his hospital bed all night, I couldn't understand why but, I couldn't help but feel it was my fault.
The doctor came back with great news, that he just had a small stomach bug and that he'd be fine, at least that's what he told me and my brothers.
But I couldn't help but wonder why after he told us this my mom started to cry.
He started to get really skinny. But he said he was trying to lose weight as he was beginning to get fat.
I wish I hadn't always laughed it off when he said that.
We knew it wasn't "just a stomach bug" when me and Pika were home alone with him and we heard him screaming in pain that "it felt like his insides were burning."
I ran out the house and told my neighbors, you're probably wondering , "why didn't you call 911?"
I was 12, I had no phone, and I was panicking, bad.
It took the paramedics 8 minutes to arrive,
and 20 minutes for me and my brothers to take in the information that my father had stomach cancer.
That night my mom held me and my brothers close, and we held our dad even closer.
He died earlier this year, after battling it for 3 years.
I would be lying if I said I didn't wish I went with him.
It hit Pika even harder, because he had lost not one, but 2 fathers.
And Kai, he didn't come out his room for 2 weeks straight. No bathroom, barley any food, and he refused to go to school.

"I don't have enough money to pay rent Jerry, After Noa's death I have just enough to only get us past this month alone. And barley enough to put food in the fridge,"
Me and my brother peered around the corner, eavesdropping to hear what was troubling my mother.
"Jerry your a sick man if you think I'll do anything with you to stay here, I care about my babies, but I will find another way, goodbye."I heard my mom say as she hung up the phone.
We watched her slide down the wall and cover her face as she began to cry, each tear that fell down her cheek broke my heart more and more.

I jumped at the sound of the noise, quickly turning to see one of my moms miniature figures on the ground cracked.
I followed the trail to Kai,who gritted his teeth putting his finger up to his lips.
I rolled my eyes turning back around to the corner to see my mom crouching right in front of me causing me to fall back afraid.
She sighed, "Were you three listening the whole time?" She asked.
I bit my lip looking back at my brothers who were looking at the ceiling.
I took in a breath nodding my head.
She shook her head lying down next to me, putting her head on my lap as she closed her eyes.
I began to braid her hair as I used to when I was younger, when she would tell me folktales of her old village and stories of her and my fathers crazy adventures.
"We're moving" She said plainly.
Just like that.
Just like that everything changed.
And here we were, on the highway on the way to some broken down house in california that my moms cousin gave here in pity of her dead husband.
3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom & barley a living room.
Man was it a good time to be a girl.

"Kai are you done, I meaning how much piss could you really be packing in that tiny thing anyway."Pika said standing outside the gas stations rest room door.
I giggled scrolling through my instagram timeline seeing my old friends.
I'd blocked almost everyone out when I found out we were moving. I felt it would better that way so that then it wouldn't seem as bad when I left. Save them the heartache.
"Hey, you think it's gonna be some hot chicks where we're staying at?" Pika asked me.
I raised my brow, "How would I know?"
He shrugged, "I don't know I mean you dig chicks too so I thought you'd know a little bit about the scene there,"
I giggled at his stupid comment, " Me liking vagina and penis has nothing to do with me knowing how attractive a group of females will be in a town i've never been to before," I said rolling my eyes.
"I didn't mean it like that"
"Yea whatever, I'm going back to the car, buy me a reese's before you leave and i'll pay you the money back," I say walking out.
As I get back into the car I hear my mom on the phone arranging everything.
"Yes i've enrolled them into school, The furniture should be arriving soon and I have a job interview set for tomorrow, 4pm sharp." She turns around whispering to me.
"You and your brothers are gonna have to walk home from school tomorrow, or ride your bikes because i'm not gonna be able to drive you home," She said turning back around.
I sighed, I mean it didn't make sense for anything to go right anyway.
1 day in Cali down, forever to go.
