"What?" Finn muttered in disbelief. "But you said you lived here...?" "I'm sorry, I lied to you," I muttered. "It's just...hard to trust someone right now."
"Hey, no! It's fine!" Finn said. "I just...can I know why?" "...I'll tell you when I'm ready," I said. "Is that okay with you?" "Yeah," Finn nodded. "Of course, take your time." "Cool," I nodded. "Um, you can drop me off at a hotel." "Hotel? Save your money, you can stay with me for a while," Finn suggests. "It's fine," I assure. "I don't want to be a bother to you, really." "You won't be!" Finn reassures. "I insist." I sigh, giving in to his offer.
*time skip to Finn's house cuz again you don't live in Canada.*
Stepping out of the car, Finn's bodyguard (whose name is Rodney) handed us our bags. "Thank you," I nod. Rodney nods my way before heading back into his car. "Come on," smiled Finn as I followed him into the house. "You're going to love it here. Mom's pretty nice so I'm sure she'll let you stay the night."
'Mom.'
Just hearing the word makes me uncomfortable. But Finn's mom? She made me anything but uncomfortable.
"Oh!" Mrs.Wolfhard smiles upon Finn's appearance. "Finn, your home!" Walking over to him, she hugged him and gave him a peck on the cheek. A part of me wanted to laugh at the sight. The other part? I wanted to scream my lungs out until my voice turned hoarse...because I couldn't help the feeling of jealousy overcome my body.
"Oh, I see you've brought a guest," Mrs.Wolfhard said, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Hi Dear, I'm Finn's mom! You can call me Mrs.Wolfhard. What's your name?"
"My name is Y/n L/n," I smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs.Wolfhard. You have a very lovely home." "Oh sweetie you're making me blush," she laughed waving me off. She hugged me and it took me a moment to realize what she was doing before I hugged her back.
"Hey, mom?" called Finn as she pulled away. "Is it okay if Y/n stays over? For, um, a while?" Thinking about it for a few seconds she shrugged, "I don't see why not." "Thank you, ma'am," I nodded. "Make yourself at home, sweetie," she smiled, patting my shoulder. "Let me know if you need anything." I thanked her once again as she walked into the kitchen.
"Here, I'll show you to your room," said Finn. I followed him up the stairs, taking in the beautiful home. "Your mom's nice," I said suddenly. "Yeah," he smiled. "She's pretty awesome. Maybe a little embarrassing but awesome. What's your mom like?" We walked into a room and I ignored the question. I placed my bag against the wall, walking over to the bed. Sitting down, I took in the room as I fiddled with my thumbs.
Finn sat next to me as the cogs in my head turned, debating whether or not I should stay here. "What's wrong?" Finn suddenly asked. "You don't like this room? I'm sorry um you can have my room-"
"No," I quickly said, grabbing his hand. "It's great, honest! it's just..." I sighed, finally giving in to my brain. Like I always do. "You know what?" I sigh, standing up. "This was a mistake...I'm sorry for bothering you. Thanks for trying to help." Before I could take a step forward, Finn held my hand tighter, "No! Please, Stay. You have nowhere to go, please?"
I stared at him, looking for any reason to see if he was lying. Sighing, I give in because who could refuse those puppy dog eyes? "If you insist..." I mutter. "You're pretty stubborn," Finn chuckled. I chuckled as well, my eyes traveling to our hands which were still locked together. We both blushed, letting go.
Finn cleared his throat, "I should leave you to get ready. See you later Y/n." Leaving the room, He closed the door. God, how did I get myself into this situation? Haven't you ever heard of stranger danger Y/n?
I walked into the bathroom, taking off my clothes. I stared at my reflection, feeling so disconnected from myself. It was as if I was staring at a completely different person. My eyes traveled down to my cuts, sighing. I opened a drawer, revealing cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide.
I grabbed it, deciding it would be best to clean the cuts up for now. Once I was done with that, I searched around for bandages. And luckily for me, I did.
Once I finished bandaging my wrists, I looked through my bag for clothes. Pulling out a hoodie and shorts.
I sighed as I layed on my bed, wondering what I should do. I turned to the side, facing the window. My eyes trailed over to my notebook in my bag.
The next thing I knew, I had spent hours coming up with ideas on how I should end my book. I didn't even realize that the sun had set and the sound of rain brought me back to my senses. Looking up from my notebook, I slowly got out of bed, walking over to the window.
It felt so peaceful knowing that I had finally gotten out of that hellhole. But for some reason...I felt guilty. Guilty because despite how bad my mom treated me I couldn't help but feel it was somehow my fault. And that, hurt more than any sting on my arm could.
Hearing footsteps, I turned around and saw it was Finn. I quickly looked away, wiping my tears. "You know, most people usually knock before entering someone's room," I dryly chuckled. "Yeah, sorry about that..." Finn muttered.
Walking over to me, Finn asked, "Y/n, are you okay?" "It's beautiful, isn't it?" I asked, ignoring his question. "The lights I mean."
"Yeah..." Finn muttered. "Ever since I was a kid I wanted to live somewhere in the city, just because of the city lights," I brought up. "I remember my sister telling me that we'll live together in the city one day, just the two of us. Of course, that was a while ago before she..."
"...Before she what?"
All it took was my silence for him to understand that she wasn't around anymore. I could tell he tried to come up with anything to try and comfort me. But of course, to no avail, he couldn't. And I didn't expect him to.
"Hey," Finn broke the silence. "It's getting late and I'm sure we're both exhausted from today's events." "Uh, yeah," I nodded. "Well, good night, Y/n," he said, walking over to the door but I stopped him. "Finn?" I called. "Yeah?" he asked, turning around.
"Uh..."
Tell him you want him to stay Y/n!
"Thanks...for everything I mean."
I mentally smacked my face as Finn nodded. "It was nothing," he smiled. "Get some rest." He closed the door and I couldn't help but sigh. Falling into my bed, I decided to just sleep on it.
And that night, I dreamed of him.
