#139. All About ARIES

The baby of the zodiac, a true-blue Arian always says ‘me first’, throws tantrums when denied, and is as easy to please and as difficult to handle as a baby. The strong Fire sign gives him a healthy disregard for the opinions of others and the cardinal strength of the Arian makes him a leader. Mars, the god of war, rules Aries and makes him violent, aggressive, and powerful.

Fearless and courageous, Arians have a warrior’s temperament. Sly tactics and underhanded dealings are not for them. They are motivated by glory and applause rather than monetary gain. Arians love butting heads with the enemy for the sheer challenge of it.

The best and the worst thing about an Arian is that he is never artificial. When he is angry, he is truly angry; when generous, no one can compare to him, and if he likes you he will be your champion. This lack of tact can lead to massive misunderstandings and ego clashes. Once he realises he is
wrong, he immediately apologises, but only in private. Sometimes, an Arian’s fearlessness borders on foolhardiness and they lack the caution to weigh options before rushing headlong into war. Their naïveté resembles that of a child playing with fire without heed for the consequences.

The childish, ‘me first’ attitude leads many to misunderstand him, and to think that he is selfish but that is not true. When he needs something, he is like a baby crying for what it wants. Once all his needs are met, he becomes charming and caring once again. His generous streak is second only to a Leo’s. Optimism makes him always see the glass as half-full and he never worries about the future. No matter what life brings, he is always bursting with positive energy.

When you feel hopeless, they will smile and talk of miracles. Surprisingly, most of the time, their seemingly unfounded optimism leads them on to the glory they seek. Failure never intimidates them and they are not afraid to try again. They are pioneers, the people who dream incredible dreams. This unbounded optimism comes at a price, though. They refuse to learn from their mistakes or change their behaviour.

Quick to anger, it is foolish to incite them to rage. They are capable of killing or destroying in a fury, but once the anger has gone, they are filled with remorse for their actions.

Saying exactly what they think makes them vocal in love. Arians feel that their love is exclusive and unique; that others never loved as strongly or as idealistically as them, nor have they had as perfect a partner. The Arian girl wants a perfect Prince Charming, while the boy wants a girl everybody will look at and sigh. You can be sure of drama, passion, and excitement in their love lives. Arians love truly and deeply and when their love crashes, they crash with it. They idolise their partners and if their faith is broken, they are devastated. Soon, however, their eternal optimism takes over, and they are ready to live and die for love again.

They are extremely ambitious. Their ambitions are not driven by materialistic gains but by the need for power and recognition. They crave adulation and applause. Their high energy levels ensure that they work hard to achieve their dreams. They are not methodical or meticulous, but get results through sheer vision and the intense power of their dreams.

Deep inside, every Arian is insecure, all Fire signs are. They fear they may not be good enough, strong enough or smart enough. If you understand that and hold their hand tight, they will be your friend forever.

Aries is ruled by Mars, which is the planet of war, which is probably why the children of Mars are exceptionally courageous. They tirelessly go headlong against any challenge in the world. They may lack subtlety, finesse and depth but they more than make up for that with their idealism and never-say-die attitude.

Aries rules the first house of a horoscope. The first house indicates the self, the ego. It shows the way we are viewed by the world. It isn’t a surprise that the Arians are obsessed with their self, is it?
