Calum P.O.V.

I was sitting in my cell staring at the tiny window so close to the ceiling. Guards had taken Sirius earlier I don't know how long ago, time really has no meaning here. He still hasn't returned which is kind of a bad thing i guess. But from our cell I could hear more screaming then usual today which doesn't calm my nerves much. But I manged to tune it out and just get lost in my head. I feel the safest there when ever I need to get away. I must have ended up falling asleep because I was awoken by the same guards from earlier throwing a unconscious Sirius into the cell. They left as soon as they came. I got off my bed and kneeled next to the man, the smell of fresh blood filling the room. Placing a hand on his back, I rolled him onto his side. His face had a few bruising areas and a bloody lip. Moving on to his abdomen, his shirt was soaked in blood. I carefully lifted it up and wasn't all that surprised to find cuts covering his stomach. Upon a further look a few seemed to be from a whip, the others from a muggle knife. I replaced his shirt and sighed he cant just stay on the floor so now comes the fun part. Me with my 4 foot(1.32 M) self  picked up Sirius from under his arms and dragged him to the bed. I placed him into a sitting position to be a little easier. "you know for all this barely eating stuff you are still really heavy". Once again I lifted him up from under his arms and got him mostly on the bed and then lifted his legs up and on to the bed.   I spent the next few minutes catching my breath.

I sat back on my bed and just watched Sirius making sure he was still breathing. The slow rise of his chest giving a bit of comfort. The state of him brought back memories, the screaming of the other inmates made them even worse. So i did one of the few things kids do, i covered my ears and when tears began to form i went to Sirius' bed and curled up against his unconscious form. being with him helped a bit. I laid there and tried to think up of a safe place in my head. I imagined myself soaring through the open skies, free of what fate has bestowed upon me. The more I flew the more i imagined i was a bird  my body shrinks as my arms become wings. I was brought out of it when a pained grown came from next to me. i opened my eyes and everything was weird. Sirius was now huge  and kind of out of focus. "Sirius help me" instead of my voice it was a a series of chirps. Oh please just be a dream, i looked over my body and i was covered in brown feathers.  "calum?" sirius was looking around for me  but didnt see me.

Sirius P.O.V.

I must have black out after what those bastards did to me because i was in my cell again. but this time there was no kid...No Kid! where is he? "calum?" i looked under both beds and in the corners of the cell he wasn't there. That's when I heard frantic chirping coming from my bed. sure enough was a little blackcap bird freaking out. it must have gotten in through the window. the bird was jumping around as if to get my attention. "Easy now little one, where did you come from?". I gentle picked up the small bird and soon had a boy in may arms having a panic attack. "Calum?!" he look terrified.  But this was great, it made their escape easier. "Easy Laddie, its okay". I pulled him to my chest and held him, letting him calm down.

"Do you know what you just did?" He shook his head no. "You transform yourself into a bird, something that takes adults a very long time to even prep for a spell that complex" I looked at him with amazement and pride. It clicked with this he could easily escape with the kid in tow. "Calum, you can't let anyone else see that you can do this." The child gave me a nod in reply.
