It was like people lived to know what was going on in their lives.
But what happens when the nerdy boy-Henry Simpson-comes into Lucas's life?
"You're lucky that it is." Leonard stated, sitting across from me. We were sitting at a coffee shop. He told me he had to talk to me.
"Is this about Henry?" I asked.
"No." He said. "Well sort of, I guess. He's the reason I want to talk to you."
"About what?"
"About what happened between us."
I rolled my eyes. Were we really going down this road again. Couldn't Leonard just let it go and stop making me feel guilty.
"Leonard, look-"
"Lucas, I'm trying to forgive you, would you just let me speak." He said in a short tone.
"Ok." I said. I was confused. Leonard wanted to.... move on?
"Henry opened my eyes quite a bit. I couldn't let go of the fact that you betrayed me. You just left me like I was nothing. It bothered me for so long. I felt like nothing."
"Leonard-"
"I have more to say." He interrupted. "I don't want to just reopen the old wounds. I want to move on. For Henry. His eyes glimmer at the thought of you. I didn't like how you left our friendship, but seeing you with Henry has shown me that the old you still exists. I believe everything happens for a reason. If you never went to that party and got with Ellen, I doubt Henry would be in either of our lives."
"You're right." I stated. "But I'm sorry anyhow. I didn't care back then. I was such a dick. I'm not saying this makes it ok, but where do you think I learned that from?"
"Zander." We both said at the same time.
We chuckled as my phone buzzed against my leg. I pulled it out of my pocket to see who it was. I was hoping it was Henry. Gosh, ever since I chose him life has gotten better and better.

* * * "You're not just lying to try and get me back are you?" I asked, standing across from Ellen in her living room. I left the coffee shop shortly after I got the message. I made sure Leo knew I appreciated what we talked about, then I got the hell out of there.
"Luke, you know me, why-"
"Don't even start with that bullshit. You were fucking my best friend for two years!"
"Fine." She started with tears in her eyes. "But I wouldn't lie about something like that. I-I know you're happy now."
