Chapter 25 - Freakshow
Lucas's POV

"I still haven't been able to get ahold of him."

"Me neither," I said to Leo. Henry missed school yesterday, and neither of us had heard from him yet. We had no idea what was going on.

The first bell rang and Leo and I parted our separate ways to head to class. As I sat down, my phone buzzed in my pocket.

From: Henry
My dad got home from his business trip late last night and saved the day. I'll explain more when I see you during lunch, but I'm on my way to school.

Oh thank fucking god.

"So what the hell happened?"

"My mom freaked." Henry stated. "She told me that when my dad got home they would figure out what to do with me."

"But your dad already knows you're gay." Leo interrupted.

"Exactly." Henry said with a smile. "Last night my mom said that I embarrassed her because she thought Luke and I were just studying. Little did she know she was about to feel a whole lot more embarrassed when she told my dad I was gay."

"What happened?" I asked. I really didn't picture Henry's mom to be this way. I honestly thought she knew from how friendly she was towards me. She must've just been happy Henry had a new friend.

"My dad scolded her for being homophobic towards her own son. He made her give me my phone back and apologize to me. Then they went into the other room to talk."

"Henry, did you just break your parents up by being gay?" I asked.

"No, if my dad ever tried to leave my mom she'd probably crack and go crazy on him. I think he knows that."

"Wow. I really did not expect this from your mom."

"That's because you've never seen her angry." Henry explained.

"Fair enough," I replied. "I'm just glad to have you back. I couldn't handle Leo talking my ear off about his vocab list for English this week."

"Hey!" Leo said, sounded offended. I just laughed at him.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my old friends at their usual table. Nate wasn't there, but a few football players and Zander were. Ellen sat across the table from him, her best friend Gina no where to be found. Ellen kept her head down as she ate. I wonder if she told Zander she's pregnant yet. That's going to be a giant shit storm, I already know it. Prepare for asshole Zander during football practice.... but that's nothing new.

Henry was the last one to finish his lunch, but once he did we all decided to go hang out in the hallway instead. Things were much lighter between us all, especially since Leo and I hashed it out at the coffee shop. I felt like he was one of my friends again, and I finally felt like my true self.

"Why are you two getting along so well, by the way?" Henry asked as we stood by his locker.

"We hashed it out." Leo admitted. "I was ready to move forward and I want to respect your relationship with Lucas."

"Thank you." Henry said with a grin on his face. He gave me a kiss on the cheek before the bell rang to go to our classes after lunch.

Fast forward to football practice. I purposefully took my time, keeping an eye on Zander. I was watching for any signs of anger, but Zander is typically an asshole so it's kind of hard to tell.

"Ok boys, I want you to split teams and run down our new plays for the big game next weekend. Luke, Zander." He said, nodding to each of us.

It was always us against each other, Zander believed he was good enough to be quarterback, but his anger is what's stopping him.

"I don't know Luke, I think some of our players are uncomfortable playing with you. Ya know, since you love dick now." Zander said with a smile. Some of the guys laughed with him.

"Oh please," I said with a scoff, "as if I'd be attracted to anyone here."

"Maybe that's why you got so jealous over me and El."

"I remember that as you fucking my girlfriend, I wouldn't call that jealousy."

"If that's what you need to tell yourself." Zander said, as he prepared to start the game.

I ignored his comments and started the game on offense. As I got ready to throw the ball to one of our wide receivers, I blinked and was on the ground. I looked up and saw Zander on top of me.

"What the fuck dude?!" I said as I pushed him off.

"It's called rushing idiot," he said, "jeez why are you even quarterback?"

We both got up and I brushed myself off. "Don't you know how to fucking count?" I asked him. There is a 5 second rule here before you can rush the quarterback.

"Zander, you gave him 3 seconds! You broke the 5 second rule. That's a penalty!" Coach yelled from the sideline.

I smirked at Zander, "See, even coach knows you're an idiot."

"You better watch your fucking mouth, Terry."

"I hope Ellen's baby doesn't grow up to be a scumbag like you." I stated.

"What the fuck did you just say?" He asked. The look in his eyes told me he had no idea.

"Are you serious? She didn't tell you."

"Tell me what?"

"Ellen is pregnant." I said "And she doesn't know if the baby is mine or yours."
